Well, the Navy is toying with my emotions this week! LOL Devin was told he will be a grad and go and that he can request leave when he gets to VA, but then yesterday he was told he's still a grad and go but can have leave so is heading to Tampa after graduation and will travel with us to his brother's wedding and then fly to VA from Tampa on May 10th. His check in date is May 11th for his surgery tech school. I am trying like heck to not get too excited and am hesitant to even book the flight from Tampa to VA as it seems the plans change daily! Serenity now......:0)

Not sure - Devin was actually offered lab tech school a couple of weeks ago and then his Chief told him he had put him in for the surgery tech school, which was actually his 1st choice but he didn't think he would get it. So, he was concerned about the confusion and they sent him to whomever it is that handles the paperwork and they told him his orders had been signed and he was going to surgical tech school. Yesterday they were to find out about leave and he was told he will be a grad and go and will need to request leave in VA if he wants to go to the wedding. Maybe because the school he is going to is starting very soon he was able to find out sooner, as Sue's son graduates on May 1st and he knows he's going to that school as well. No idea.

Devin was told that he will need to put in for leave once he gets to VA for his brother's wedding. We're not going to bank on it, will just have to wait and see. At the moment we are just excited that he's gotten the C School he really wanted. :0)

Sue - my son is going to surgery tech school in Portsmouth as well! Seems like our boys are on the same path! He was told yesterday that he will be a "grad and go" meaning that when he grads on April 24th he will head straight to VA either on Fri or Sat and will work at the hospital until they class up on May 11th. He's very excited about the school!

LOL - I just went through my pictures, thought I might share one of his room but I'm just too horrified to do so, that's how bad it is! You know how some people can go home to their parents and their rooms are just the way they left them? Not at my house! I empty, sanitize, and re-decorate before they've even settled into their new place! LOL Of course they keep coming back anyway! :0)

Carol - this is my son that is getting married next month, I asked his fiance how they are liking their new home and she said "It's wonderful, now if I could just get Steve to clean up after himself" I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing and told her "good luck with that one honey, I've been trying for years!" I even showed her the pics I took, all I can say is that girl must REALLY love him as she didn't run away screaming in horror! LOL

Oh to have their rooms at home look so neat and tidy! Devin isn't too bad on keeping his room clean but the older son was just a slob! I took pictures of his room once and threatened to make a website www.steve'sroom.com so that everyone could see what a slob he was! And as much as I hate to admit it, the girls were almost as bad as him! I spent many years mumbling "focus on the good things" as I closed bedroom doors! LOL

Way to go Aaron on the FMF pin! And Yay Jeremy for graduating! I'm certain excited as all get out to be heading to Italy soon! Bravo class that graduates on April 24th gets their briefings and next duty stations officially today! Poor kids, seems like they've been waiting forever! I can hardly wait for the call today that tells me Devin is or isn't going to be at his brother's wedding, he said they were also finding out about leave today! :0)

Welcome Gloria and Cheryl - there are so many opportunities for your son's after they complete corpsman A school, stick around and read on this site and by the time your sons graduate you'll have all the info you can imagine! My son is graduating on April 24th and then he is heading to VA for surgical tech C school, some of his classmates are going to other C schools, some are heading for the FMTB training, some are heading out to places like Italy and Japan and Guam! Imagine how exciting all this is for all of them! Just tell your sons to study hard and do their best! The rest will fall into place.

“He just hesitated. I said, ‘Screw it. I am going forward.’ ” he recalled. “I felt like corpsmen that had gone before me in earlier wars were there. I could feel their hands on my shoulders as I worked.”

“Doc, I knew everything was going to be OK when I saw you come through the smoke,” the Marine told him.

Simply put, there are no unimportant jobs in the US military. Every single brave young patriot counts. and we are blessed to have those that serve with such honor and commitment.
