Terri - my son is graduating on April 24th from Corpsman school but tonight he called and told me not to come as he is certain he is going to "grad and go". I guess that means he expects to leave right away for VA. He said he's more than likely going to work at the hospital there until he classes up on I think he said May 23rd but I could have the date wrong. I hate to miss it but will probably go up to see him in June in VA instead. He's graduating with honors too. With my older son getting married on May 8th Devin says he hates for me to spend the money to fly up there and not get to spend time together. He said he'd rather wait to see what his schedule is like in C school and have me come up for a long weekend or something. He's such a good kid. I miss him terribly!

BTW - my son has his laptop with him but mostly he uses his blackberry to send e-mails and of course his calls. I think the blackberry is one of the coolest inventions thus far! :0)

Hi all - as usual catching up again! LOL Had a nice trip to Alabama, wedding shower was nice, was great to see my son and his fiance, haven't seen them since Jan. Now the countdown to the wedding really starts! AND are you ready for this? Devin got his orders for C school and they are NOT for lab tech in San Diego, he is going for surgery tech in Portmouth VA! This is a cool thing because he really wanted surgery tech! What a rollercoaster, I went from planning a vacation in Naples, Italy to San Diego, CA and now he'll be just up the coast in VA! But he said this time he's certain as he saw his signed orders! From what I understand he has to report to base by May 11 as the school starts in May and it lasts for 6 months and then he will get more orders. I'm happy for him that he's getting the school he wants

Just popping in to wish everyone a happy weekend! Going up to Alabama for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower. Will catch up on all the good news on Monday! :0)

Mary Jo, We were also in San Diego a couple of weeks ago for FMTB graduation. My Nick graduated on 3/13, how about yours? We also stayed in Carlsbad and I agree with you about it being a great place. We're up in Northern CA, but I could definately live by the beach.

I have had to really caution myself on looking up any info on San Diego, don't want to jinx it. But you can bet I'll be planning a vacation that way if that's where he winds up! We got all excited about Naples, Italy so this time I haven't even told Frank yet, figure when he lets me know for certain then I will share the news with the rest of the family.

Inga - if it makes things sound any better, absolutely everything here is covered in a fine mist of yellowish green pollen, I mean EVERYTHING. It's gross. We pray for rain to wash it all away but when it actually does rain, it looks like streams of pee washing away, totally gross!! Not to mention that every other person you meet is just a giant snot box with red eyes and nose! Beautiful sunny FL! LOL
Comment by Sharon P.M. on April 1, 2009 at 2:31pm
I only got to see the snow for a day and was enthralled with it (you know, the whole "White Christmas" thing) but I also knew I was getting my butt right back to sunny FL! I could not even imagine dealing with that nasty, cold, wet stuff on a regular basis! That my son has survived the winter is a miracle, he's a beach baby like his momma! :0)
Comment by Sharon P.M. on April 1, 2009 at 2:11pm
I heard! Devin was totally disgusted when it snowed on Sat night! Had to laugh, the first time it snowed when he was there he was thrilled, now he hates it! Knew that would be the case by the end of winter!
