While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Yes, waiting for that Petty Officer list was exciting...I was on another Navy moms board then! and when your sailor's on it! it's even more exciting. Passing that exam doesn't guarantee you'll get the promotion, tho, I was surprised at that , but there are just so many slots available I guess.

Yes, my son moved up after leaving school, became a petty officer a bit later, can't remember right off.
Just thought you ladies might want to know that HM2's Mom has another daughter, Kim who is in a women's center, being prepared to deliver a little girl, there are some complications, Kim has pneumonia and other things, I have a blog posted, if you would like to add your thoughts there or pray privately, whatever works for you, but Inga (HM2'smom) needs our support today and tonight.
Baby girl to be born is Ava.

Thanks for the info! So my son has quite a ways to go! He's an E-2 and 3rd week A-school! Thus far loving it, hope it stays that way! AVT sounds pretty interesting, of course it all sounds pretty cool to me.

Ok HM2's Mom, the voice of all things Navy! I need a glossary! Please tell me what these things are: HM1, HM2, AVT, and FTS. I am catching up from weekend posts and have no clue (in my defense have only been a Navy Mom since Nov!) LOL! I am writing all down for studying! :0)

I think my son had ulterior motives...he did the DEP, with the plan for seabee or corpsman...in the Navy. Like he knew his Navy brat mom would be best with...then he went for corpsman and volunteered to go green with the Marines....like his best friend he grew up with was...I think I was taken for a bit of a ride.
My mother was a nurse for 50 years...and my son never got to meet her...he can hit an IV in a moving helicopter on his head (so I hear...) and he insists he got that talent from her....and maybe he did, at least the confidence to make the stick...no fear. And that's one reason corpsman was on his list. Probably, at the time, the Navy needed corpsmen as well. The Navy makes the call.

I was amazed at the size of my son's legs after training...my long lanky kid has some bulk...on the MEU onboard ship, he and those Marines just run up and down stairs for hours...and that training of running with that big ol weight on his shoulders built him up!
He did a lot of PT in his DEP and was kinda disappointed in the amount of PT in basic, he wanted more..so I guess he got it as a Doc.
