While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I'm so sad many of those Marines are from my son's National Guard Base.Prayers. I'm still praying for the sailors that were lost. So sad.

Heart breaking news to read of 16 dead in the crash of a Marine plane in Mississippi. My heart and prayers for all those who lost their lives and their families who were waiting at home for them, as well as those with whom they served.

My son....I knew he was going to enlist after 9/11 but he promised me 2 years of college....so then he comes to me and says he wants to enlist in the Navy...knowing I'm a Navy brat and I will go for it better than the Marines....so then he goes for the one day thing, comes back and says that the Seabees were all full so he took his second choice as corpsman. THEN...he goes off to the Navy and then A school where he volunteers for FMTB training and then he volunteers to go with the next Marine unit that needs a corpsman...where he serves for the majority of his 7 years in the Navy. And I finally call him out on it and he says...yes, that was his plan all along, to be a FMF corpsman. Sneaky little jerk.
The good thing is that with the timing of when he went in, he was home every Christmas for the full 7 years. Sometimes for just a few days, but always on Christmas. It was the only time we saw him pretty much. He came home to bring his car before one of his deployments in March one time.
Now, he's out...and has a great job after getting his degree at UTSA...so he's still close to our home here in Austin, TX!

My1stgirl, all assignments after A school are up to Ma Navy. They do have a dream sheet they can fill out, but doesn't mean they will get that assignment. My son decided to go Quad-0. He has been stationed in Spain since A school. Works in the hospital in what I call the maternity ward. Has been in the delivery room for lots of deliveries and gained a lot of experience. His next assignment is stateside in a Marine intake clinic. She needs to study hard, attend the study sessions and figure out a balance for getting down time.

I had the very same conversation with him too ... lol There truly isn't time for play ... now is the time to study .... They all have a lot to learn in a small amount of time ...

There is a group on Navy4Moms that will have more info on A School in San Antonio. I know when my son went into school, they were way too busy for visitors. At this point, they are cramming a lot of information and education in a short frame of time. It's all Ma Navy from this point forward. Liberty and leave time is really not the Navy's priority.
My son was at Great Lakes, I called him and he chatted for a minute then said "mom, I'm freezing my butt off, can't walk and talk on the phone at the same time here and I'm outdoors. Don't call me unless someone is dead or in jail. I'll call you".
I took the hint.

Thank you for input Bobbi H. I'm still learning my daughters choice of path, can anyone have an idea what is the common assignment of HM after their A school.
