DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

C'mon now! We've got some new members here. Tell us about your sailor.

My son is almost done with A School, they are being fast tracked to comp before stand down, otherwise it's five more school days when they return in January. He is thinking SatComm after A School, we shall see.

Jack, when does your son start BUDS?

My son is an E1 AD and just arrived at his first duty station NAS Lemoore at the beginning of this year. He is assigned to VFA-151 Squadron.

Guess I could update. My son is an ET-3, currently in TPU in San Diego waiting for his ship (Pioneer) to get back to port.

My Sailor is an E-3. He is currently in A-training to be a Sonar Tech at Great Lakes. He graduated from basic training on December 21, 2012 at Great Lakes. He is suppose to go to San Diego after that for more training not sure what the training is called. I guess it is a good reason to call him and find out! ha ha

Good to have you here Bren.

Thank you. I have found a lot of good information already. I am glad I found this group. Thank you for allowing in to join.

Bren

My son is an ABH2 and is Hangar Bay 2 PO.  He has been in for 9 years and this is his second carrier, his first was the Stennis and made 3 deployments - 2 WESTPACS and 1 Sandbox.  Did two years shore duty at Meridian Naval Air Station.  He is married and they live in Norfolk.

Good to hear from you Rod. I would think crossing the equator would be a lot of fun (I guess it's fun) for the first time. Unfortunately, unless my son changes ships, I can't imagine how he'll pull it off.

Definitely overdue for me to update my son's status.

He is now an ET2 aboard the USS Cole (yeah, that one) and currently stationed in Norfolk. He is fast approaching year 5 of his 6 year journey and tells us he currently has no plans to re-up.
