Hi Angela..I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your son going to Japan!  It isn't quite as easy to hope a plane and fly there for a visit!!!   Maggs, Jase is looking forward to the fall in VA.  It is just the humidity that is so hard for him to adjust to right now.  He's a So Cal boy and our humidity is nothing!!   We can't wait to go visit and go to DC ourselves!!

well nick is off to japan, sure gonna miss him, 3 years is a long time for a 19 year old. I sure wish he could of stayed stateside but I know he will have a great time over there.

when my nephew came home last year he got almost a month home before he left for south korea, we really only had one full week with nick but I enjoyed every minute of it.

well hope you all have a great week, angela

Jason left for Virginia on Friday.  He also did the volunteer recruiting duty to get the extra days at home.  He was married on the 30th and left on the 5th.  It was harder for him to leave this time and much much harder to watch him go.  He's not to crazy about the weather in Virginia!!!

my son nick came home wednesday night, graduated dc school on tuesday, now today he is off to the recruiting office to put in his 1 week of volunteering over there. we are going to have a welcome home\going away party on saturday., I completely agree that it never gets easy to say goodbye, even though nick hasn't even been home for a week yet I am already dreading saying goodbye to him on the 9th. then he is off to japan for 3-4 years.

JDsportsman...My son just did his final test for dc A school.  He will have 10 days when he comes home.  When we went to graduation, we were able to take him his cell phone and his lap top.  The good thing about him staying in Great Lakes is you will get to spend the whole weekend with him.  Don't plan on leaving for home till Monday if possible.  I didn't know if we would get to see our son on Sunday and we were flying home late that afternoon.  Turns out we could have been with him till 9pm when he had to be back on base. It was so hard to have to drop him off early to head for Milwaukee airport.  After graduation, we had to wait a couple hours till we could whisk him away to the hotel.  We rented a car because it was easier to be able to come and go as we pleased and not have to pay for a Taxi.  If you have any questions or just need an ear, feel free to message me here or use my regular email....crossroads45@aol.   Congrats to both you and your son on this journey!!!!

Maggs Thank you, it has been an emotional day.  He was texting from the airport and once I new I was on the plane, I calmed down a little and thank god for this forum because I was on chat all day.  I have so many questions.  I thought, at first it was just the 8 weeks and he would come home for a week or a month, then go to more school or maybe get stationed.  I guess I had that all wrong.  I am going to his graduation from Las Vegas, and then I guess, I leave him there for more school but maybe I can take him his cell phone and lap top and ipod?  Am I wrong again?  After A school, how long will he be home?  What are we talking about here like October or November before he can come home at all?  No one knows do they?
