Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'll do a search for Halsey moms tonight. Gotta go, I'm on the road to Norfolk for Sailor son's homecoming! Yippee!

Your poor sailor has alot to be dealing with, I will surely be praying for all of you. That is really a difficult time you are all in. I pray his traveling trip goes smoothly, quickly. You both will need each other at this time...

Comment by Melissa (Tucson) on March 18, 2009 at 11:41pm: They are free websites that enable you to video conference (you must have a webcam). You can also use them to conference (audio only) up to 10 people.

My Sailor and my daughter in L.A. and myself all have webcams built into our laptops. I think you can buy a stand along webcam for about $20 - 30.

The video is clearer and then's less of a delay. ooVoo is free also and you can video conference up to 3 people free. Matt gets on ooVoo with his sister in L.A. and me and hubby here. So the whole family can be 'together'....
