Thanks Amber, he just doesn't want to take things he can't use, which I understand with limited space. ;)

Thank you both for the info. Leeanna, Kyle went in under the pact seaman program because the job he wanted was not available at the time and he was ready to go. My husband and I have really been nervous about his choice, my husband was navy also. So as for what he will be doing job wise, pretty much whatever they tell him to for the first year and a half until he chooses a rate. He's 100% ok with his choice so I am getting use to that. Did your son take his laptop with him?

Thank you for the welcomes!! I'm still wrapping head around Japan lol. I know he is very excited! Will he need a new cell phone when he get there? How is the best way to communicate? Sorry for the questions, still trying to figure all this out.

Hello, I had a really nice long chat with my son. They were headed back out. He said that he is with a great group in his bunk area. So there has been no theft of any of his stuff. Good to hear. He will look into finding Jerimiah. He sounds really good but it also sounds like this long deployment is getting to everyone...

I gave my son the information and he said he had passed him on the ship, he's usually not much of a talker even to me!!! When I talked to him the morning before they went back out to sea he sounded a lot better.

It is sad that others have stuff stolen but like you said nice to know that no one is being singled out!

Thank you all for helping this mom feel better!!!

Jerimiahs Mom, My son also is older (28 next month) and a newbie. I have sent you a friend request so we can try to get your son connected with mine. Hang in there mom...

Ladies, For the longgest time my daughter was called Shorty, it is because she stands 5ft .5 in tall. That stopped one day when they asked for someone to go into a small area and no one would go but her. Now the respect is there from her shipmates. This crap goes on on everyship.

There is nothing wrong with being a Nerd, they are just like everyone else except they take the time to learn more and keep learning. My daughter is like that but instead of calling her a nerd we call her a sponge, she soaks up all the information that she can and never lets go of it.  If there is anything else I can do or any more infromation you need just let me know.

That would be GREAT!!! I think part of the problem is he is 27, so he's older than most of the newbies. And he has never been one to give in to peer pressure which is a good thing. He has told me they make fun of the way he dresses when he is in civvies. Says he doesn't care but I know he doesn't like not having anyone to talk to our do anything with during liberty.
