Wow, I had no idea. I knew it was a big problem at A school, but not on their ship. Is there locker not big enough for their electronics? We were going to get him a new computer for Christmas...hmmmm now I need to rethink it.
On the lighter side my son called, today is his last day of school and he graduates on Friday. YAY They took a tour of a destroyer, not his, but it was right next to his. He is getting excited about being on board ship. My son is the typical GUY, never shows excitment over anything. Usually when I ask him if he is excited about anything his usual answer is EH. But I could really tell in his voice how excited he was. I am so happy for him!

I have been told that theft is a large issue on my sons ship, this is such a shame. He will be bringing all valuables to FL before depolyment. I lke the idea of bar coding iteams!

Sounds like a great idea! I'll send him an email right now and ask. Thanks Valerie!

Valerie:
What does it mean "make sure he has registered with right personnel on ship"?

Hi Candice and welcome to our little group!
I think there's quite a few of us who will be celebrating Christmas without our Sailors for the first time....including me :(
We'll have to get online and keep each other company on Christmas....lol
Have you done a search (upper right hand corner) for other McCain moms? That's how I found other moms on my son's ship.

Karen, I think we have some Arleigh Burke moms on here. Have you done a search yet? (far upper right hand corner, just type in USS Arleigh Burke). Let me know what you find....:)

Hi Wendy and welcome! Glad you found us. Here's the website for your son's ship. http://www.gridley.navy.mil/default.aspx
It has the ships mailling address on there also. If you have questions about where to send mail, write an email to your son's ship's ombudsman. Their email address will be somewhere on that website also. Most of the ships will allow you to "register" with the website so you received email notices about the ship.
My son's ship is in the Gulf right now and the CO, XO & CMC send out a monthly newsletter with lots of pictures and information. I just got one yesterday and was so delighted to see my son in 3 different pictures! What a nice surprise for a mom!!
If you have any other questions about your son or his ship, we're here for you! :)
