On Navy.mil there is an update.  They still can't find the other 2.  I tried copying the link, but was able to.  My heart goes out to the families.

Thank you for your post Mary. If anything happens involving my son's ship I would value the support, prayers and info from the others on this site.

Mary, please don't think I was trying to offend you because I wasn't trying to.  If I did, I apologize.  It certainly wasn't my intention.  My post was just simply to saying that reports were coming from many sources, and your post didn't site any reference point.  That can cause panic.  I have found that is always better to post when details are available with a source of reference that is reliable.  In your case, you said it came from the Navy, yet didn't report that in the posting.  Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Wacky Wave, yes there are family members here - I am one of them.

All reports were five are missing and now we can celebrate three have been rescued and pray for the other two.

I do not speculate - the news has been released by the US Navy.

chels's mom.... thank you for the update,  My heart goes out to the families of those involved as well as the shipmates of the Lawrence...  I know the aweful feeling of losing your shipmates ... I was an AME in a VP squadron and during desert shield,  had a shipmate get killed in Saudi Arabia not from hostile activity but hit by a drunk driver..  My heart goes out to all the moms here .... it all just makes things seem so ...  ugh words can't describe... My son's ship the JPJ is in san diego ...My old shipmates son is on the Ross... he just arrived on her.  just praying to god to keep our sailors safe

3 of the 5 missing are recovered and stable.  answered prayer.

NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BAHRAIN (NNS) -- An MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6 crashed in the central Red Sea Sept. 22, while operating with the guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110).

Three personnel are accounted for and stable. Search efforts continue for two remaining personnel.

Assisting in the search and rescue are USS Nimitz (CVN 68), USS William P. Lawrence, USS Princeton (CG 59), USS Shoup (DDG 86), USS Stockdale (DDG 106) and USNS Rainier (T-AOE 7) as well as MH-60S Knighthawks from HSC-6, and MH-60R Seahawks from Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 75 and one P-3 from Patrol Squadron (VP) 47.

The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity.

The incident is under investigation.

Mary, the report is not official that "Five are missing".   We don't need to speculate and we don't need to start posting what is being said on various news stations.  Let's wait for official word before any speculation is put on this site.  There are family members on this site with loved ones that don't need to be put in a state of panic because people start jumping to conclusions.  Let's just pray for the safety of the five members.  Here's the report link: http://www.cusnc.navy.mil/articles/2013/130922%20174.html

Prayers ladies,
It is day 251 of deployment for four of our destroyers and a helicopter crashed today from the USS William P Lawrence. Five are missing, details unknown
