While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My sons ship did not have a Bible study group when he got there but the ship was new as well. A friend of his started on and it turned into a large group practicaly over night. So with that said if there is not a group I would have him check with the ships Chaplin about starting one. I believe this was not with the Chaplain it was a large group of people on the ship getting together to read, pray and study the Bible together. Take care

That is good to hear, I have heard that some do not so was worried. He is my one that wants to go on his own and I would be sad if something interfered with that. He spent A school working on a religious service medal.

Do these ships have an onboard Chaplain? Chapel? Will my son be able to attend church and or bible study on board? USS Bainbridge.

I am new here. My son graduates IT from Pensacola 6-6 and after a visit home for leave will be reporting to the USS Bainbridge. That group does not appear to be very active. I will need the new ins and outs of ship life, how to send mail. can there be calls, emails? I have twins this one I refer to as Twin 1 (first to join) His twin 2 is in BC at GL and will go to A school in S. Carolina for 2 years.

hi sailonmom, I'm a USS HIGGINS mom i will see you after you join the groups that you need to be on, i was lucky because my son, did put me ombudsman for the ship before he left on deployment, i don't know where you live but there is a halfway party planned for the ship june 15 in san deigo ca.

Hi Sailonmom, your Sailor has to send an email to the Ombudsman and Family Readiness Group President to have you put on those 2 separate email communication lists. Your Sailor can email them and copy you. The ink below is the Navy for Moms USS Higgins page. You have to be approved to join the group.
