Isb, the name of the group is Whats and Ombudsman and FRG and how to contact them.
Hello NavyMom2014, Do the sailors get to communicate often? or is it basically by mail? My son will be patrolling the South Pacific. Does your son have a POA filled out? How soes this Ombudsman thing work. My sailor graduated from A school on Feb. 12, became Petty Officer yesterday, and . . leaves for San Diego on Feb. 27. We hardly have time to get anything done. His ship is do to leave port next week. Not much time to get things together.
ISB, I went to the page that list all the groups and typed in Ombudsman. I am holding up o.k. He told me yesterday that his shipped is getting ready to ship out, so he may not have any shore time at all. Makes it hard to get all the paperwork done. I do know that your sailor has to put you on some kind of list, or the Navy can not tell you anything.
Hi Bandmom and Isb!
A lot of the groups on here aren't very active, this being one of them. A lot of us use facebook and messenger to talk and keep up with one another. I think it's because it's more accessible and easier to get on.
My son has been on a destroyer for over two years and is (and has been) forward deployed in Rota, Spain. What would you like to know? I can try to answer questions for you.
Hi Bandmom, Do you know how to join the Ombudsman group? I have so many questions too. Sure wish my daughter had got San Diego. We could have been closer. Japan is blowing my mind. How are you holding up?
Hello Isb, My son will also be joining a Destroyer next week. He will be stationed in San Diego. I have tons of questions too, but I have noticed this group is not very active. I was told however to join the group about the Ombudsman. They have lists of thing that should be done before your sailor leaves for duty.
My daughter just got her orders for early April on the USS Mc Campbell. I have so many questions and would love to correspond with someone. My daughter will be in Japan.
Thank you Georgia Girl. He seems very happy, can't wait to get going.
Band mom - My son is on USS Sterett and he loves it. Congrats to your Sailor!!
My son just received his orders. He will be On the USS Stockdale. He is super excited. This is what he wanted was a destroyer.
Hello all! My son just got his first set of orders - reports to the USS John Finn next month. He's excited, and I am excited for him, but he'll be 3000 miles away from home!
