spensmom - Thank you.  I am not sure when Preble is due to be back, they have been gone since Feb or March.  R does not report until Aug 2nd. How long do the destroyers stay out and then how long until they deploy again?  I am excited that we are so close and can go see him off when he leaves.

Have a great time indyrules!!!  I plan on being in SD when they come back after their next deployment.  Let me know what it was like to see the ship come in with all hands on deck.  It's gotta make you choke up.  With my daughter graduating this year, my husband getting pneumonia last month & my daughter getting her wisdom teeth a few weeks ago, $$ weren't there for all of us to go to SD.  I ordered a banner from buildasign and it is beautiful!  We're taking it to the airport.  I'm also going to line our street with American flags and a church member got a hold of the Patriot Guards, so they could be at the airport too.  I will be thinking of you and will be smiling Friday morning!!!  Kiss that Sailor of yours and squeeze him big time.  Thank him for me for serving.

indyrules - I wanted to go to the Tiger Cruise so bad.  My Sailor called yesterday and said they were getting ready for it.  Just think, they'll be stateside on Friday!!  My Sailor comes home on 8-9.  I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Wow!  Lots of new moms.....yay!  Welcome.

J&R's Mom......Read what Mary just put on this site.  Your son's ship is in the article.  I guess he is going to meet his ship since it's deployed?  That's what my son had to do when he first went last year.  This is his 2nd deployment in a year.  All the best to your son(s).

U.S. 7th Fleet Kicks Off Vietnam Naval Exchange Activity 2011 By U.S. 7th Fleet Public Affairs Posted: July 15, 2011

DA NANG, Vietnam  – The U.S. Navy began naval exchange activities with the Vietnam People’s Navy on July 15 in Da Nang in conjunction with the 16th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.  This seven-day collaboration will focus on non-combatant events and skills exchanges in areas such as navigation and maintenance. Medical and dental civic action projects, ship visits, band concerts, community service events, and U.S.-Vietnamese Navy sporting events are also planned. These activities underscore the closer ties between the U.S. and Vietnam. “This exchange helps our respective Sailors gain a greater understanding of one another and builds important relationships between our navies for the future,” said Rear Adm. Tom Carney, commander, Task Force 73 and commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific.  U.S. units participating in the naval exchange activities include the guided missile destroyers USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) and USS Preble (DDG 88); the rescue and salvage ship USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50); Sailors from Task Force 73, Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific, and a Mobile Diving and Salvage Detachment.

Hello everyone...another newbie, my son will be head to San Diego next month to joing the USS Milius. This will be his first duty station.
