For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by J&R's Mom on June 30, 2011 at 11:20pm: Hi All, I am new to this site - my youngest son (oldest is in BC) just got orders for San Diego and the USS Preble. We are so excited, as we live in So Cal, so he will be close to home (when he is home). He is just 18 and still adjusting to Navy life - like getting written up in A School for a messy room ( wow, good luck with that one Navy!) Lots of growing up to do for my boy over the next 4 years!

Comment by CorinneL on June 26, 2011 at 5:49pm: It's nice to know they can call or e-mail often while they are deployed. My son's ship won't go out for a few months yet - his first - but I'm starting to wonder about everything. I'll have to keep checking this group. One question I have is about his mailing address. The last line he gave us is FPO AP 96667-1308. Should it be FPO APO with the numbers or is it correct? He did get our "test letter" and "test package" we sent. Thanks for any info.

Comment by Colleen on June 15, 2011 at 11:23pm: We just send Walgreen phone cards. They put them on sale quite often. We get the ones with the most minutes. They seem to work just fine. They aren't even international cards, just regular ones. Does that help?

Comment by Colleen on June 14, 2011 at 10:31pm: My son doesn't get a chance to check daily. So it will be hit or miss. And sometimes phone calls on deployment are a couple times a month, depending on where they are. They can't tell you where they are headed, only when they get somewhere in port. So I just let him tell us when he can and I don't ask where they are. I just cherish any time I can hear his voice. Have a great rest of your week.

We talk on the phone every week and I do get a picture here and there and he does send cards and we send cards and packages, but there is nothing like a big 'ol hug and a kiss. Hang in the Ang.
