For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I hope he gets home without too much hassle. indyrules, I think our boys are on the same ship. I would give anything to see the ship come in. To watch it come in with all the sailors lined around the ship. What a tear jerker that has got to be! I'm getting all choked up just thinking and talking about it. I don't know if we can get out there, but he's going to take leave soon after it ports. I miss him so much. I can't wait till he gets home and will hate it when he has to go back. You guys do what feels right for your family. Either way, you get to see him!!

Comment by Mark's wife on April 8, 2011 at 5:00pm: Cindy- every sailor is different with how much they contact their family. I get emailed pretty much every day and get called every time my husband pulls into port. I have heard from others that they only get emailed once a week or even month. as for the phone... the cheapest option really is a for her to get a pay as you go phone and get a new sim card when she pulls in to port.

They cant say where they are going, only where they are and where they have been. The best way to get information is to be in contact with the ombudsman... be sure your sailor put you on the ombudsmans list so they can contact you.

always remember to keep the information you recieve pretty much to yourself. dont post it on facebook or twitter no matter how harmless it seems. loose lips sink ships.

Comment by KatK on April 8, 2011 at 12:05pm: My son is in Japan and has a Japanese cell phone (really small) and then buys the calling cards. His bills are just what he buys with the cards. We asked him if he wanted an iPhone and he said no because of the roaming charges.
