I live near Amarillo. My brother lives in The Colony. We grew up down that way. Miss it and the slightly warmer weather. Cold up here tonight.

yep.  Have to look for the positives!  What small town are you from?  I live in Dallas but my sons father lives in Waco.

Ollie's-I made the comment tonight that unlike many parents in this world, I can find comfort in the fact that I am 100% sure that my son isn't going out and getting drunk or in some kind of trouble this Saturday night. lol Silver lining, eh? :)

Jessica- only comment I got was only 4 seats at graduation, work it out with his dad whos coming.

Potsie- my son.  He left on th 6th, box came on the 9th, form letter today.  All happening so fast.

Texas Navy Mom- My son actually lived away from home for a few years before he came home to train for the Navy.  Guess that makes it a little easier.  I probably have a better idea now of where he is and what he's doing than I have in a long time!

Evening all! Anyone missing their recruit and having a difficult night like I am? Made his favorite meal tonight and just cried. February seems forever away and then he goes to Conneticut for what seems like forever. I am thrilled and proud and excited he is beginning such a great life. I always wanted him to know more of the world than small-town Texas, but I selfishly want him nearer right now or at least to hear his voice. It doesn't help that my mother is in the end stages of cancer and it's the holiday season. So much at once is totally overwhelming! Thanks for letting me unburden myself and here's to February! God speed!

Hi Ollie! Son? Daughter?

Wer're all on this crazy rollercoaster together waiting to see our sailors. Can't wait to see mine.

When did yours ship out? My son left on the 29th, got to BC on the 1st, but im still waiting for my letter. Did you mean your form letter?

No he's not going for Nuke. Was told he was on submarine doing electronics/computer. One job below Nukes they said.

How long is schooling for Nukes? My sons schooling seems unusually long, but what do i know. lol

He will be in Connecticut for 33 weeks they said.

Comment by tackijacky on December 11, 2010 at 7:34pm

my son is also going to groton for a school ....are your guys going into subs?

You're answering every single question we have, believe me you're not overwhelming us.

Sometimes , you know how you dont want to ask TOO many questions? Thats how i felt when i was talking to my sons recruiter. He asked if there were ANY more questions, i said ' yeah, this may seem dumb, but isnt my son too tall for a submarine?' ( hes 6'3"). he just laughed and said 'no, and its not dumb, everyone asks that question' lol

So i can speak for myself, overload me with info so i dont have to ask:)
