Sandy, no not 2 at the same time. Christian got his Eagle 2/16/09, Jordan will have his hopefully before this year end. They do all the work, I just add the boot to the tail end if and when needed....hahaha. I was the den mother for Jordan's cub scout den from tiger through Weblo II, made dad take over when they got to boy scouts because they'd get to go camping and hiking all together. They've had some great trips, and my husband is just as mechevious as the boys can be. Practical jokes for all when the De Knikker boys are around. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Have a great week!

Congrats on getting mail. Feel like you can finally breathe. Gerry was one of those that waited til the last minute. Had Eagle BOR a week after his birthday. Aged me about 10 years I think. Lesson learned. I have 13 yr old who is finishing up his last Eagle MB and then he can start thinking about project. Going to wait a few years to actually get started because he's just not mature enough to this on his own right now. 2 at time.....I'd have to be on drugs to get through 2 at one time ;-) Christine...you go girl!!!
Gerry said in a letter I rcvd on Friday that boot camp is like boy scouts to the extreme. Had to laugh at that as I saw you talking about the same thing. He went on the say he met another guy in his div that's an Eagle scout too. Didn't give me a name though. "we are scarce around here" he said. Well yeah....they just don't give that to you. Glad I have you ladies to talk to. We're proud Eagle & Navy MOMS!!!!! Blessings to all....

JR...that's AWESOME!!!!! I'm getting so excited for you moms with upcoming PIR's. I was in your shoes this time last year and I was marking off the days on the calendar, it was crazy! We got an email from Christian yesterday from the ship, he wrote a couple days before and my husband responded with a one sentence response....we got out tails chewed because the email is the only thing work looking forward to during the day, so my husband responded to that one with a long story when he was younger and in law enforcement in Sturgis SD during the Black Hills Motorcycle Rally. HAHAHA....He'll be back in San Diego in a couple more weeks, then his girl is going down with her older sister for a visit (it's the girl's birthday so she is really excited) She's never been on a plane before and has never been to San Diego, so it'll be a great adventure for her! O.k. I have to get to work, I'll post Jordan's Eagle Scout project tonight. Have a wonderful day ladies! God bless our sailors/recruits God bless ALL Navy families

Good Morning everyone! Welcome to the Eagle Scout Wife, I agree the more the merrier! We got a letter this week too! He showed us drawing of formation & he is in the FRONT ROW!!!! I'm so Excited; I can hardly stand it!

Dee, That is great. The first letter is the most wonderful mail to receive!

Christine, How exciting for you! I'm not sure I could make it thru 2 Eagle Ceremonies. All the prep & everything; wears me out just thinking about it! Tell Jordan, we are proud of him!

That's exactly what Christian said when he got into bc routine. Mom's it's like BSA and football camp rolled into one! So I bet that took a lot of worry off your shoulders. He's going to be fine. Being Eagle has taught him to be prepared. This will be nothing for him. I'm glad you got a letter. I kept Christian's in his DEP folder and would read them over and over and over and yes over again. As the weeks go by you'll notice a change in his writing too, he's growing up, and when PIR comes well forget it, you won't see the boy who left home, you see the wonderful young man that was always in there and his recruit command brought out in him. Keep me posted on how he's doing! Going to get crazy around my house within next 3 weeks...my youngest son Jordan is presenting his Eagle Scout project to the county board of supervisors on 23rd I believe, he wants to put a memorial on court house grounds so have to get permission, then Oct will be working weekends and the dedication will be Veteran's Day Nov. 11. Jordan is 16 and only has 3 more merit badges to earn so he's right on schedule....not waiting until the last minute like so many boys seem to do, have their board of review days before their 18th birthday, if not day of....craziness.

Christine- I so agree. with any wives and gf, and Girl scouts members joining. (think maybe they will share cookies with us if we share popcorn)

Dee- YEAH on mail. I so believe the scouting experience helps them to cope with BC more. I have talked to a couple of moms who bc was the first time really away from home. God Bless your recruit.

I don't mind if Eagle Scout wives join the group! We have one mom in here that's a Girl Scout Gold Medal mom, the more the merrier I always say. This is a place for anyone who appreciates the hard work that is shown to earn rank of BSA Eagle Scout and GSA Gold Medal.

You gals may share that prayer with any and everyone! I don't know who made it up, but we passed it on...it's tradition.
O.k. the blue candle. It's a symbol that you're thinking of your sailor recruit while they are going through their Battle Station 21 exercises. Now I know that they gave you a time like 8 in the evening to 7 the next morning, but that's an approximate time line. It may take longer, they then have the capping ceremony, where they exchange their recruit caps for NAVY caps. There's also some type of breifing after the Battle Stations is concluded, so it may be late morning, early or mid afternoon before you get the "I'm a sailor call". I hope this helps you. Will be thinking of your sailors for BS21, then the HAPPY weekend you will have with PIR.

Sandy, got a letter today. His BS will be 9-17 & 9-18; WOW a week before PIR!
Comment by SandyGAGirl on September 8, 2010 at 5:13pm
First let me say thank you for the comments and the support. I could not have made it through boot camp without this site. It truly has been a blessing.
Gerry's rate will be IT and he will be training in Pensacola, 5 hours from home, and I can drive there :-) After that who knows, but I will keep you gals posted for sure.
His BS is scheduled for 9/15-16 : 803pm-700am. Afraid I'm going to miss the "I'm a Sailor" call since we will be leaving out Atlanta at 130pm on 9/16. Read somewhere that the calls don't start coming in til about 1pm CST. Just told him to leave a very detailed message and then call his grandparents. Just want him to be able to talk to someone.
Christine - Thank you so much for the prayer. Can I post it on my PIR group? I'm ready for BS, have my candle and lots of coffee ready to go...LOL.
He said he had to show a few how to tie a bowline, good to see he is being helpful.
JRB - The time as flown by. Crawled at first but glad PIR is almost here.
Dee- write to your son and ask him when BS is scheduled. That's how I found out the date.I think it is something they do not post, at least I have not found it anywhere. DO tell the scoutmaster to send him letters. Heck, you can take a card to a meeting yourself and tell the scouts to sign it. It really means a lot to them to know they have support out there. Hang in there!!
Blessings and Hugs to all you awesome scout moms!!!!!
