Quiltlady. What a wonderful trip for you! Italy is one place my son never thought he'd see while serving on Nimitz, a west coast ship. So it was a WONDERFUL port call for him. They gave them enough time to spend in Naples & Rome! Now they are on their way HOME!!!!!! YEAH for us! This will end a 9 month deployment for Nimitz and we families are ready for our sailors to be back state side.
I was just in Naples on a cruise and saw the Nimitz there. Great place to visit. went to Pompeii and Sorrento to shop.
Navy felt it necessary to extend Nimitz deployment. O.k. that pushes homecoming back, but I don't think there is a single sailor aboard her right now that is complaining. They are in Naples Italy for some well deserved Liberty! So very excited for my sailor!
My heart is very heavy tonight, the tragedy in Washington DC at the Navy Yards, is hard to comprehend. My prayers for those souls who are now in God's care. For their families left behind, may they find peace and comfort and know that the entire Navy family stands beside them. For our sailors who are deployed, homecomings postponed because their duty has been extended. Gods speed home! We at home miss you so very much! Fair winds and following seas til you return to home port! God bless our sailors, God bless all Navy families, God bless the USA.
Prayers for our leaders to make the right decisions in the days to come. Continued prayers for our sailors/marines who will be involved directly or indirectly. Prayers for all families here at home as we worry while our kids are deployed. Let us stick together, UNITED WE STAND; and never forget, we are NAVY FAMILIES. God bless our sailors, God bless ALL Navy families, God bless America and continue to keep her the shining beacon on the hill to the entire world.
