Hey Moms...who says the Navy is boring? Christian got to meet Larry the Cable Guy while on deployment. Larry came aboard the Nimitz and Christian got to show him his job as OS. Pretty cool!

Dee...we're with you in spirit...don't be sad, be proud of what's he is about to do with his life. To serve isn't just something to do, it's a calling! Let us know how you did. Keep a smile in your heart and one will be plastered on your face. Stay strong, supportive and always love!

JR, have you looked on N4M for your division group? There should be one, and that's a great network tool for all of you in the same boat right now. Do go to the M&G's they are a lot of fun and everyone has the same story..can't wait to see their sailor. There's usually one at the Ramada Inn, which is a nice reception, they have billards there. Flannigan's is a good one, but the food isn't that great there, but it has a nice open space for the N4M groups. The other hotel that hosts is Roadside Inn(?) I just can't remember, it's been almost a year for me.
As for the "no news is good news" it's hard, but it's very true! So write your son daily, tell him every little detail you may think is silly. He'll LOVE it. Keep the messages positive! Tell him that of course you love him, but there's other Navy moms that appreciate what he's doing; to listen to his RDC's and do the absolute best he can not only for himself but for his division!
Welcome aboard Jacqueline! We're here for each other! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! God bless your sailors/recruits and your families :-)

Christine....I'm haning in there. We got our box & the letter. PIR is 9-24. Aside from that info, we have nothing. I'm doing my best to hold onto No News is Good News, but it is not easy. I would like all of you that attended the M&G prior PIR, because I'm getting the impression that the location leaves a lot to be desired. So please let me know.

To my fellow Eagle moms...thank you SO MUCH for welcoming our newest mom to our group. I've been busy with work, our local county fair, and just haven't been online. Welcome dee. Eagle scout and OA member...both my boys and husband are OA, I have one Eagle, my sailor, and one working on his Eagle project now, he's 16 so we have plenty of time but he wants to get it done! Just found out that one of our boys from troop wouldn't be able to get 1 merit badge completed before his 18th birthday so he scrapped his Eagle. Goes to show that you can lead them but they have to make the effort. It's so sad because he did so much to get this far, but when you have a merit badge that has timelines you have to get those done on time. I'm not sure, but I think it was Family Life that got him. Usually it's Physical Fitness that kills em at the last minute.

JR, how's your son doing in bc?

Liz, how's Ian in Florida? Do you get more communication via phone now?

Dee, again, welcome. We are here for you to get through bc, thank your son for all of us for making the choice to serve in the Navy. It's a natural process I think, scouting is all about setting and achieving goals...so is the military. Your son will do well and you'll have an E3 when he graduates! Boo yah! Bravo Zulo to your son, God's blessings! Bless our sailors/recruits & God bless ALL Navy families. If I get busy with fair, please everyone have a wonderful weekend and take care of each other. Christian's ship comes back into SD tomorrow so I'm waiting on a phone call YEAH!!! Of course, I'll get a call after he calls his girl. Priorities we all know.

:-) glad to be of help! Got a phone call from my son while deployed. Loved hearing his voice between the crackling in the phone line and the 5 second delay. He is doing well but sounded tired. He misses home and his girl (I'm sure not in that order) but he's in good spirits.
