Hey Girls! Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone! My first Thanksgiving with Christian being away at A School, but I get to pick him up in time for Christmas on Dec 23. I know this is just the beginning, but I'm glad that he has friends he'll spend Thanksgiving with on base and will be able to share a nice meal with them and watch a little football. Prayers for your sailors that they too have a chance to enjoy the day and remember that while they are away physically, they are always home in our hearts. God blessings to all.

Becky, I think the boys do all the procratistination just to watch us GO OFF!!! I know Christian was dragging his feet on completing the Eagle Book, we lit a fire under his butt and his Eagle BOR was 2 months before his birthday, but we have had SO many Eagle candidates have their BOR days before their 18th birthday. Our district counts the cans each troop & pack brings in. I really enjoy bags in much more, I love seeing the cub scouts helping out as they have a lot of fun with it still. I just finished some updated training, thank goodness for online training, gotta love it!

Becky, You know how bags out goes. It didn't rain, yeah! BUT the boys just complain on how far they have to walk, I'm tired, are we done yet. I just tell them that after this area there's one less to complete. I am working with a boy on his Cit of Community badge and he was suppose to meet me before S4F and didn't. Then he called me asking if I could meet him later in the afternoon. I told him that I was there waiting for him for more then 1/2 hour, it was my husbands birthday and I wasn't available to meet with him so he'd have to wait until Tuesday before our troop meeting. I don't mind meeting with these kids, but if you don't show up and make me wait, am I to drop everything I have planned when the boy is ready on his terms? I love scouting, been doing it for 10 years now myself, just need to light a fire under my youngest sons butt and get him going on mb's again, he has 4 or 5 mb's started, let's get them done please.

Becky, Christian is OS (Ops Specialist) He's loving the class so far. He hopes to get Pearl Harbor HI or Norfolk VA for his duty station.

Seaman to Admiral is officer training for enlisted, they use to be called "mustangs", he wants to earn at least PO 1st class or Chief before he applies to the progam. Then if accepted he'll go to college on the Navy's dime. His cousin went through it, went to Texas A&M got is degree. Christian wants to be an officer but didn't have the grades in high school to get into college and NROTC so this is how he'll be able to obtain that goal. I guess he was driving the RDC's crazy the first few days of bootcamp with all kinds of questions about it, their question back was "Why do you want to be an officer?" Well, let's think on that for a second......lol. Have a great weekend. We're doing scouting for food, getting the bags out. Hope it doesn't rain.

Becky, I know you'll have a very Happy Thanksgiving at your house! It's hard to believe that our little boys are grown up. Christian took the first of 10 tests for 3rd class PO today and passed with 96%. He's very happy, he wants it before he comes home for Christmas.

Wow Bahrain for two years! He'll be able to come home during that two years won't he? I didn't know we even had a base in Bahrain, or is he going to work with Army or Air Force? My husbands cousin, he's a Lt. in the Navy, is working with the Army right now in Korea, and I know that Navy corpsmen work with the Marines all the time. MA=Master at Arms correct? How is he liking Texas? My brother just moved his family to Dallas/Ft. Worth area, he's an instructor with American Airlines and trains new pilots, he was in the fleet for 20 years. Take care, man it's hard to believe our boys were just recruits a short time ago, now we're getting ready to send them to far away places, but how exciting for them! Time to spread their wings and soar!

Woo hoo gals! Christian's A school started yesterday (Monday). He's so glad, now he's counting down the days until he graduates and gets out of Great Lakes (he's not liking the weather much, too gray, wet and cold, but likes the sunny days). Then he's off to South Carolina to visit his gal and her family, we moms became friends here on N4M, home for Christmas, then more then likely off to the fleet. 6 weeks on hold was hard for him, but he's excited now.

Kelly that's cool! I think scouting is wonderful for boys, and it sure is helping Christian in the Navy with "earning ranks". Kind of a natural fit in my eyes. God bless the scouts, our sailors, and our families.

Hey girls! Hope everyone is doing well. This past weekend we went to the BSA 100 year anniversary kick off with a "March on the Capital" in Sacramento. BSA took over Raley Field, a minor league baseball field that's just as nice as major fields in my book, for the day! We had over 6500 scouts of all ages, Tiger Cubs to veteran Eagle Scouts! It was a lot of fun, wonderful weather.

We got there around 7:15 a.m. and helped set up the OA teepee and helped with others, got registered, marched the march, came back to the ball field, ate lunch, then they had all kinds of cool things for the scouts to enjoy. BMX bike riders doing their tricks, a concert, all kinds of vendors with games for kids to play and win trinkets. But we spent most of our time with the OA dancers at their pow wow. It was crazy, so much to do and everything going all at once. Oh, I forgot the monkey bridge , sumo wrestling(the big padded costumes), few more things I can't remember all of them. It was so much fun, great way to start off the 100 year anniversary of scouting. I had a lot of fun with my husband and younger son, very long day but well worth it.

Kelly, I live in Woodland. We use to go to Sunrise Roller Rink (Sunrise Mall), Kings Skate (Roseville), Fantasia (Arden & Watt) then Woodland got Star World in 1981 so we didn't have to run to Sac to roller skate, I loved to skate. Sunrise had the wood floor, still does although it's been over 10 years now since I've been there, last time I was there boys were in homeschool group and we had an activity day there. Wow, Casa HS still has a kick butt football program! Woodland played them a few years in preseason, would always have our butts handed to us but we always have fun at h.s. football games. On my way now to help in the FFA snack bar tonight, last home game, 3 week road trip for the Wolves. Have a great weekend everyone.

Thanksmom, of course we have room for you! Scouting RULES! On our way to kick off 100 year anniversary with Golden Empire Council "march on the capital" tomorrow morning, expecting more the 7000 scouts & families, should be fun. My youngest son Jordan will dance with his OA tribe (I'm going to take Christian's Eagle card and hope to get a cap for his collection)
