Kelly, Orangevale? Are you kidding? That's right down the road! Have you been back since you moved? You'd NEVER recognize it now. What a small world we live in. My hubby was born and raised in South Dakota and talks about retiring there, but I told him not the prairie like you grandma, I'd go crazy, but I think I could handle the black hills area, Sturgis, Rapid City, Spearfish. But I prefer my CA weather, even if it's really only 2 seasons.

Kelly & Kathleen, do you remember the song "valley girl"? (fer shur fer shur) Well when I told people that I was from CA they thought all us girls spoke like the song (like, oh my gawd). I had a friend from IN who thought I lived across the road from the beach, I live in the Nor Cal Valley, it's a bowl, the coastal range to the west, the Sierra's to the east. It's hotter then heck in the summer most of the time and cold, damp, foggy in the winter. Closest beach is 2 hours away west and I don't surf. But I was a cowgirl growing up, rode high school rodeo, rode horses before I could walk, but my hubby can't get me to live in South Dakota on the prairie...thank you but I need to be close to shopping for sanity reasons, not have to drive a day just to get somewhere....lol Closest I get to Indians here is the casino, and they don't look like Indian, they look Mexican. Oh and when they boys dress for OA dance performances. Funny how our regional location gets us stereo typed.

Here's my Eagle Scout, Matt. His Board of Review was in 2001 here in Tucson.
I have a interesting story about this site and Matt's Eagle Scout picture. I was the 125th member on NavyForMoms.com. I used Matt's Eagle Scout picture as my avatar. His 3rd letter from boot camp says, 'take my picture off that silly little website of yours, my RDC is calling me scout boy'. I immediately change my avatar and am feeling really bad about causing problems for Matt during boot camp. I fly up for PIR and right after they call 'liberty' Matts asks if I would like to meet his RDC. Well, of course, I'd LOVE to meet your RDC!! First thing the RDC tells me is what a wonderful kid Matt is and then he wants to talk about Scouting because he has two young sons and wants them involved in Scouting. I stood there and chatted about Scouting for 30 minutes and never did get around to talking Navy! Matt now thinks his RDC was awesome and even asks how the 'silly little website' is going....
