Oh you are a brand new Navy mom!!!! congratulations!  Did you have a wonderful weekend?  I remember when we arrived I was "my son is just behind those gates, I should be able to see him because I'm here!!!"  Then when we had to say good bye again I didn't want to leave him behind.  Of course I had, along with 3 other Navy moms, an awful good bye because the restaurant we went to as a group was forgotten about and I had to say my good bye to my sailor in a parking lot while one of the dads got the 3 boys back to base before curfew.  Well I raised such a stink with the restaurant they didn't charge us for the meal, which was the least they could do and we were a party of 16!  That was 4 years ago and I've never done anything like that before or since, but I was pretty upset because it was our sailors didn't even get to eat their meals, but the 2 families kept their meals in the hotel fridge and they got to eat their dinners the following morning while I was on a flight back to CA.  The boys sent me a message that I rocked for getting everyone meals comp.  haha

Yes, It is from his PIR 5/31/2013. We were on the second level so I was able to capture that shot. A Scout is Reverent popped into my head at first; however it really applies here too.

Is this picture from your son's PIR?  Great shot and I truly believe it's true.  God bless and keep all our sailors.

Christian became a "shellback" a few days ago aboard USS Nimitz.  No longer a polly wog.  Congratulations Christian and the rest of the new shelly's about Nimitz!

I think this decision is long overdue. Scouting was such an important part of my son's life, he says "the best years of my life," that I would hate to see other dedicated and talented young men denied the opportunities provided by Scouting.

My heart is just sadden by the vote of the BSA leadership in Grapevine TX today.  I just feel like I've been smacked upside the head for no reason.  All the years that I gave to BSA as a cub scout den leader from the time my youngest son was a Tiger Cub through the ranks of Eagle Scout for both of my boys.  Trying to teach my boys how to live with honor, dignity and a sense of pride, and not only my boys personally, but the boys that were in our dens and troop.  Not to mention the endless hours of selling popcorn, community projects, as well as assisting on other Eagle Scout projects.  I feel that the current leadership doesn't understand the words of the Scout Oath "On my honor...." has implications, values that we need to live our lives day in and day out by.  Now a 103 year old tradition is no more.  My heart aches, I'm just glad that when my boys earned their Eagle Scout rank, the gay issue wasn't an issue.  I will be writing a letter to TX about my disapproval.  I can't believe that they caved into social pressure.  The current BSA leadership should be ashamed, I know I am and don't know if I'll continue to support them via Friends of Scouting.  The local troops, more then likely yes, but the organization beyond the local troops, I'll have to think about that.

Congratulations. It's nice that the Navy recognizes the hard work by Eagle Scouts by giving them a head start in their rank.

My son completed his board of review a few days before his 18th Birthday in 2008.

One of those multi-year achievements that might not have been, but has served him well.

Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout.
