Hi Everyone. My son is a senior at Saguaro and in DEPs right now. He goes to PT at the Thomas/Scottsdale office and is scheduled to ship out on June 23rd.

My son just began OCS in Newport.  Thanks for letting me be part of your group!

justamom - that sounds like a great trip that you had with your son.  I would love to do that with mine.  Our problem right now is getting the truck back to south carolina to him.  He has a 1997 Ford Ranger, runs perfect, in perfect condition, except for the hail damage it just recently got from that terrible storm we had.

It actually has low miles for it's age, maybe 110k, and since we've taken good care of it, it should last him for what he needs for a while.  I don't know about criss crossing it back and forth across the country though.  all depends on where he is stationed after school.  Of course it wouldn't be ideal to leave it sitting once he is at sea.   I'd just like to be able to take a week driving it back there and explore the parts of the country where I've never been before.  I'm thinking my 16 year old daughter and I should drive it and give us more bonding time, then dad could fly back and meet us there.  Only problem is that I am not going to take her out of school for that.  Probably would have to wait until the end of May, once school is out, if he can wait that long.  Or, we send dad on the road all by himself, and that is a  very scary thought. ha.

just trying to figure out all the angles.  I'm sure he would feel comfort in having his own vehicle there with him.  a piece of home.

Oh, and we got the air conditioner replaced last year, new tired, new brakes, so it is really good to go as far as I know.

ya, i think it is going to cost a lot to send it, and the vehicle is older and maybe not worth it.  The thing is that the Nukes are required to live off base when they start their third school, Prototype, so they are told they must have a vehicle.

He has a while until he gets to that point, but he would like his vehicle a little sooner because he may have to be in hold between A school and Power school for 2-3 months.  So starting in March, when he finishes A school.  He may not start Prototype school until November or December, or it could get pushed back some, but he said they would told yesterday to get their vehicles down there and not wait till the last minute.

I'm debating whether I should just go on a nice road trip and drive it down, which to me would be fun, but not if I don't have time to stop along the way and enjoy the sites.

hi everyone.  has anyone shipped their sailor's vehicle from Phoenix to where ever they are stationed?  If so, what company did you use?  Any helpful tips?

My son says he really wants his car now in South Carolina at Nuke school.  trying to determine if we should ship it, drive it, or sell it and let him get something else back there.

Thanks.

Just joined the group.  My wife and I are so proud of our son Alex.  He is currently at GL in A School as an FC and looking forward to graduate from A School in February or March.  He was able to spend 2 weeks with us during the holiday, we had a great time but it went way too fast.  His barracks inspection habits apparently didn't carry over at home, he left us a messy room to clean up but it's all good :).  Would like to join everyone on the 29th for the get together.  Are Dads and other family members welcome?

At this time it looks good for me.  I don't have anything scheduled that day (that I know of).  Either place is ok, but Desert Ridge is such a bear to get around in & find anything.  I don't go there unless there isn't anywhere else I can go.

I too won't know for a while if I have to work that day or not. But if not, I will be there. My daughter is leaving on the 25th for bootcamp.
