I got THE call today!! My son is officially a United States Navy Sailor!! So flipping proud right now!! All of the tears, all of the worry, all of it... was worth it for that one moment in time! I will cherish it forever!! Can't wait for PIR next week!
Welcome to crazydaisy and her empty nest of sailor recruits right now. This is a good and safe place to feel out your emotions.
Hubby and I laughed at our sailor in a box. Everything just ripped off and thrown in. He had an extra swimming test the night at the hotel before going up to bootcamp, so it's good we opened it since everything was wet. It could have gone moldy. (((hugs))))
I got "my kid in a box" today. Very emotional. I brought it in and cryed. I know I won't open it today. Way too many emotions.... I think I'm starting to get on other peoples nerves with the crying and moping around. I just haven't been able to stop yet. This is so.... different from a week a camp or going off to college.
Welcome Navy/Marine Mom- I cried for days after my son left. It is OK. It is awful having a quiet house!!!!!
Mary
Welcome Navy/Marine mom . Yes, you are allowed to cry. Whether it's in the store when you pass on their favorite snack foods, or driving through the park where they played sports, or just hearing one song in a different way. We are here for you.
My son left for boot camp yesterday. Not very easy so far. Many moms have been through the same thing. I'm sure if I have one good cry I will be ok
Hello Everyone - I have actually been an emptynester for 5 years. I'm married with three kids, one daughter-in-law & one Granddaughter. All my kids had moved out on their own shorty after high school. My youngest is our Sailor. He had been on his own and working before joining the Navy a year ago. He moved back home when his lease was up in December 2010 was home with us until he left in August 2011 for BC. At the same time his sister had also move home for a short time. So everyone has been gone again since then except for our son's Cat & 6' Python that I guess we now have custody!
Welcome to all the new moms----Lschwepp, shermb, browns57, Mary, sdees3!!!!!
I hope that I did miss anyone. If I did, my sincerest apologies!!!
My only child, my son, left me last March for his voyage in the Navy. I was pretty sad for a long time, and at times I miss him sooo much!!!! But, I know that he is being well cared for and he is helping others as a corpsman.
I have not seen my Cub for around 7 months now, and he told me that he is not coming home in May like he thought. So.....I am waiting for him to come home someday.
You will see your respective Cubs grow up immensely and mature beautifully! The Navy is a good place for our Cubs, but it would be nice to see them more often. Go to the PIR because it is so worth it. I am here for you if you need some moral support! Blessings to all of you! Mary
Welcome lschwepp, shermb, browns57 and Mary!
lschwepp: I also felt numb when my son left for bc. He is my only child, and I felt like I was loosing a part of my myself. That was a year ago, and I did survive. You will too. Navy4moms was my lifesaver, my rock, my everything. I was glued to this website morning noon and night!
You will feel a little bit better everyday. Your daughter is in a very safe place and being taken care of. :-)
