TennNAvyMom-   We shall see if my Cub gets leave or not soon.  I can only hope.  It seems like such a long time ago it was that I saw him.  I knew this was going to be hard, but at time, it is tortuous.   I had to go through this with my father never seeing him when I was little.  I just keep telling myself that it was my Cub's decision, so I have to be happy for him.  I am really proud of how hard he has worked and his motivation!   That is the upside!!!

I think my Cub was take a promotional exam today.  I hope he does well!

I am going to PIR. His gf is not going.  I feel so depressed lately.  Thank goodness I have my husband now (just got married a little over a year ago).  I have no idea how I would have done this single.  I have tried several times to go into his room but just the smells of it make me cry and break down.  I seriously think I am losing my darn mind!!!

Hi Velvetlace, your's is in Florida? Man, that is a very long ways away. Because mine is in the Reserves, he is stationed here in the Everett-Tacoma area!! I consider myself very lucky. He has been doing his weekend drills at Joint Base Lewis McChord which is Army and Air Force. He got married in late August and they are doing great. I'll send you a private message soon! Great to hear from you and knowing where your son ended up!

@ebi-   Hi!   It is so good to see you here.  My son is now in Jacksonville, FL.  He finished his corpsman school (A school) in San Antonio in the middle of August.  He came home for a short visit, and that is the last that I have seen of him.  He is trying to get leave in a couple of months.

So glad that your son loves the Seabees.   When I was growing up, we lived in Ventura, and we would go to Port Hueneme for commissary and BX.   So glad to see you here!

@imgiggin-   Good luck.  I was unable to leave and go to Sacto to say goodbye to my son over a year ago when he left.  Probably just as well since I would have broken down and cried in front of him, and I did not want to do that!   If you have any questions about the process, they are a lot of ladies here that have gone through the roller coaster ride that you are now on.  It is hard, but it will be so worth it !

@Daysleeper-  Have a good rest!   I have never made corned beef and cabbage.  My husband is part Irish, so I bake a lot of potatoes around here.   I have been buying the Irish Soda bread.  Do you have a good recipe for it?

@Mamabeans-   Welcome!  I totally know how you feel.  My Cub has been in just a year as of last week.   I had a dream the other night that he was around nine or ten years old, and we went into to toy store.  He wanted this very large and expensive dump truck.  I fumbled around in my purse, and I finally found my credit card, and I purchased it for him..   Then I woke up and realized that my little boy is grown up and so far away in the Navy.  It makes me sad to think about it.  But, I feel like he is pursuing his dream, so I should be happy for him.  It is better than him just doing nothing, though I wanted him to complete at least his two year college degree since he was close.  Oh, well.   Someday, he will come home again.  Are you going to the PIR?  It is so worth it!
