LOL what don't I need? A place to cry... a place to laugh through all of this... a place to have my lil boy back! But I know he is becoming the man I envisioned him being. All my hopes and dreams are up in Chicago right now.
Welcome mamabeans (ship 03/Div 116) Yes, life is different. I am trying to catch up on my rest from having my sailor home last week (plus daylight savings time.) It was fantastic having him in the house, cooking, going out to eat at new and familiar places--etc. He has been in the Navy for 4 years now (and has also re-enlisted.) Let us know if you need anything.
Hello to all. Well, I guess I am definitely in this group! My one and only child left for bootcamp and is beginning his 4th week. His 19th birthday is this month. No phone calls yet but 2 letters thus far. I was a single mother for most of his life so it has always been just me and him. THIS IS HARD!!! And the journey has only begun. It is so hard to not think of him as that little blonde toddler that use to line up all of his matchbox cars and create racetracks with paper towel and TP empty rolls. Not to mention taking food out of the boxes so he could make "tunnels". I miss those days. Yep, I am definitely an empty nester!
Hello ladies. I haven't been on the site for what seems like forever! I recognized some names (velvetlace) here so thought I would post a quick hello! My son graduated 5/6/2011 and was in ship 12/ div 157. He is currently a Seabee with the Reserves, and LOVES it!
The past few months have been full of changes for me. It's hard to believe that it's been a year since my son left for bootcamp! Time sure does fly.
Welcome and interesting name, jenniferzcrazyplace
Daysleeper-
I am worried that we will get involved in Iran and Syria. It seems like we ought to get out of Afghanistan now, and we need to concentrate on rebuiliding our own county. The average age of our roads and bridges is 45 years old, and they were only meant to last 50 years. Time to rebuild our own country, IMHO. We cannot be the world's policeman. Rome overextended themselves with wars and conquest, and I do not want that happening to the USA. I love my country!
Tenn NavyMom-
Thank you for your prayers! I do miss my Cub so much!
I agree with you that we need to pull all of our troops out of Afghanistan as soon as possible. I cannot believe that some of the Republicans are beating the drums of war to go into Syria and Iran. It is crazy bad!!! I will pray for peace, and that your Cub does not go back to the sand pit/hell hole! It is definitely Dante's Inferno over there! God bless you and your Cub!
Okay ladies, I've come to terms that my husband and I are emptynesters :) My Sailor is leaving for a 10 mos deployment and our youngest is away in college. So we've decided to see our Sailor off in Norfolk stopping on the way down to visit friends in DE and then off to SC to visit friends, then since we're half way down to FL we have both family and friends there and we're planning on being home in time for Easter. This is the first time in over 20 years we are doing for "Ourselves" - and I don't feel guilty.... it's about time. Besides I'm going to need a diversion from my sons deployment only if it is temporary.
Navymom9875- Thank you so much! I sure miss him. Today, March 8th, was the day he left to go to BC a year ago. It has been a long year, but a fruitful one for my cub.
Mary
Great picture, velvetlace!
