Well, my only child (son) just flew out of San Diego on way to Great Lakes.  He has been at MEPs since Tuesday, I am thankful that he had his cell phone with him to keep in touch, now I am waiting for the text that he landed, & then the last call for a while "I'm here, I'm safe, I love you..bye"  My heart feels broken in half.  But at the same time I feel liberated.  So many emotions rolling around in my head I think it will pop off.  I'm so proud I could shout it off the top of a mountain.  But now it's time to figure out who I am as a woman, instead of the last 19 years being a Mom.  I'll always be a mom, just not as I am used to.

Congratulations to all of us who raised fine young men & women who are driven enough to take the oath of defending our country.  Proud to be an american, & mostly a "Proud Navy Nuke Mom"   Love to all

Kimberly--I've got a message in to the sailor about the Ball. Let's see if I hear from him.  He was there for just 3 months and that's why he was a duty driver for the Ball.  He had already finished his machinist mate schooling, and was sent up there to finish his welding certification for his sub work.

Kimberly--my son was a driver last year for guests going to the ball.  It is a great event to honor the Navy.  If you can arrange it, I think you would have a great time.

Daysleeper I'm going to try the chia seeds where do you get them? I can eat my weight in sticky rice and I will not say how much that is. Heard from my son today sent him 2 boxes of junk food he acted like I sent him gold. He now wants this every month whereas before he didn't want us to send anything " I'll take care of it". Well... He wants my husband and I to go to the Navy banquet in April Has anyone heard about that in Groton Ct?

Lynne - sorry about your bad day.  I have those too.....randomly something will bring on the tears.  I guess the best we can do is let them flow and then continue to try to move on knowing that our kids are fulfilling their dreams and making their way in the world while serving our country and making us proud!

Lynee--we too have been awaiting a call from our saiilor boy.  Last night I looked at the clock and thought,  hmmm, 9 pm his time.  I usually send him a text called "ET Phone Home."  Last night I just put "Boards?"  I knew they were Monday.  He called back in 10 minutes and said he just got home and was exhausted but that YES, he did pass his oral boards for his Dolphin pin.  He's not sure when he will get pinned.  We also told him to look up our storm.  Like you said, sometimes you just have to hear their voice.  He's in dry-dock in Norfolk.
