I answered in the discussion in the GF group... you may be a victim of regulations (no dependents for E-3 overseas) and the geo-bachelor crackdown.  He must ask PSD, I think you're falling under special circumstances as the zip code used for sailors in training is almost always where the dependent resides.  ALMOST always.

Hi, I have a question about BAH. Our October to November BAH with dependent was based on Hawaii's zip code (where I reside), and for some reason this month it changed to Great Lakes zip code.  My husband is an E3 currently living in BEQ Great Lakes for A school as an FC.  I am still living in Hawaii. What location should our BAH be based?

Grandson who PIR Oct 5 is finishing his ATT school in GL next Thurs. He is in training for FC. Had indoc class and ATT class prior to beginning his A school in Gl for FC. That class FC A school is to be about 6 months. The FC C schools are not in GL. One is in SAn Diego ( Tomahawk missiles only) and two are in coastal VA, Dahlgren and Dam Neck. google them. His weapon (missile) choice determines his C school location. GL schools have stand down/no classes from 21 til 6th.
After his boot, your guy will have the indoc and ATT classes before he begins his A school in GL. Plan on a wonderful weekend for your PIR. He can stay with you during the day, but must go back to base at nite. DO attend Sarge's pre-PIR the nite before PIR to get lots of good info you get no where else.

Hey I have a question my husband is in boot camp right now pir is Jan 11 and he is going to be either an ET or FC. I think he finds our this coming up week. My question is how long are either of them schools for A school and C school. He is staying in great lakes for A school so will C school also be in gl as well?

Congrats Maddie Gma - it feels like they have a "profession" after C school!

Connie --- they have been around (maybe) forever. Hubby has some from the 80s that I knock the dust off...on occasion.

Congrats to your son!

Woohoo Odi! I am going to try not to be a hater during the holidays for all that may get to see and hug their sailor. We had that joy in November and time simply goes way too fast!

Enjoy every minute.

Any sailor can be awarded a NAM, it is for some outstanding performance.  Usually means they went above and beyond in some manner, and are exemplary sailors.  The command puts them up for it, although my memory gets hazy after that.  I'll have to ask my husband, he has a couple.  I've heard the comment they are handed out readily now, but I think what has happened is we know more sailors who earn one because of social media, not because there are more NAMs.  Just an opinion.

They count for advancement points, so they aren't empty chest candy.

Comment by Concernedad on December 10, 2012 at 11:33am

So how does one win a NAM? Is it job specific? Who awards it or determines who gets one? Are there a lot issued?

Son and all seabags made it here - just relaxing!
