Hope everyone is well and hearing lots from your sailors.

Lucky, lucky Mom - MykindsisinNavy!  Enjoy every visit you can because one day they go to the fleet and then you just treasure seeing their email in your inbox!

VickiMed!  Your son is too funny, IFFY huh?  Congrats to Chris, so glad that you got a chance to go visit with him before he heads out.

Cannot remember who our son used for cable in GL but in Dahlgren (Aegis FC school)  our son had comcast for cable in when he went they were scheduled to pick up the box the day before he shipped out.  They did not, so he brought it home for us to mail to them.  Took MONTHS for them to credit his account and not without a ton of calls. I still hate cable companies!! LOL

We are feeling very blessed, got phone calls two days in a row from our sailor.  First time he has been on land in four weeks.  The email communications have been fairly good so far but nothing like hearing their voice <3

The good thing for me is the longer at GL my Sailor is the better...it is a 40 minute drive from my house to his ship!!!  wooohoooooo...so even if he doesn't want to get held up at GL long...it makes me HAPPPYYYYY  lol  just don't tell him that..:)

Hi Moms! I haven't been on in a couple of months. So just catching up and checking in. Congrats to all Moms of new Sailors. Welcome and enjoy the ride. It is exciting and emotional. What you feel when they left for BC never leaves you. You just learn how to handle it. For all those that tested yesterday I hope they did very well and I wish them luck. Son has been in Norfolk for the last 3 months going to IFF (identify friend or foe) school. Hubby and I took advantage of him being on the east coast and DROVE to Norfolk last weekend to see him before he leaves to join his ship in WA. (13 hour drive one way, but it was worth it) Yesterday he aced his final and now has his IFF certificate. His brother responded and told him he always knew he was IFFY(hahaha)  <NMH>>> to all the new Moms. Your pride in your sailor is just going to grow.

When my daughter was in Great Lakes, she went with the Clear internet provider...they were the only ones who really provided the speed and reliability that she wanted...I think she tried a tmobile device from the REX and it was slow.  I think the Clear service was about $50 a month...

My sailor was on hold an entire month. So your sailors might be that lucky!! They can buy the internet or split it with roommates my husband did that. The internet on base was so slow.

Mine is happy with being on hold for ATT, too.  I'm glad he's getting a good rest after BC and if he gets a bit bored waiting for school to start, it might even be a good thing.  He just got his computer and didn't complain about not having internet access.

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on March 15, 2013 at 8:03am

My new Sailor is on hold for ATT now too, but has his laptop and cell and he and his roomates are having comcast installed today as a matter of fact.  So they must be able to use the internet.  Now to figure out how long the hold is..:)
