YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Each time I hear this -- I cry tears of joy - for mom and Sailor. It is so wonderful to hear those words. HUGS and Congratulations!
DarleneH - that's how it was for my son, I didn't hear from him for 10 days - I was sick with worry, when I noticed that his return address had changed by one # - one of the Veteran moms on N4M's explained that when the get out of RCU and into FIt - they don't get phone calls until the pass B/S - it can take a while - what with schedules for the runs and then fitting them into a group for B/S. My son ended up doing B/S with a pre-SEALS unit. He loved it! You will hear soon - I've got a good feeling for you!
Navyrocks - good to hear that your son is getting better - it'll be your turn for "I am a Sailor" soon! Keep writing - they really do love to hear everything from home and need the encouragement!
Oh darlene that is beautiful can it be emailed over to me. Our son called yesterday
still in RCU but sounds good and cant wait till he is at 100% running power to get on to his A school. I miss him sooooo much. We see such a change in him ,polite and Thankful for whatever we send him in letters and pictures ,so so odd since he really has never been a phone or picture kind of guy but he sure is now. He brought me to tears when he said mom Im out on my own now and im not sure you realize this yet b/c i cant just come home at any time anymore but i am there in spirit. Got a letter today expressing again how Thankful he is to receive what we send and just keep sending me more and his penmenship is remarkabal .
It is so nice to have all you ladies whom really get the emotions of having our kids so far away.
Darlene your baby girl will be on her way very soon and will obtain her goals, you WILL get that "Im a Sailor call shortly" Lord give me the patience to keep waiting for mine .
Hugs to all the moms.
DarleneH -Check her letters - my son's return address div # changed - it was the only way I knew that he was in FIT - not RCU anymore. I think that once in FIT, they don't get their weekend phone call anymore. I completely understand the "being in the dark" I have trouble sleeping when I'm worried - I didn't sleep much until I heard his voice say, "Mom, are you ready for this? I'm a Sailor" I was MORE than ready! lol Do try to take care of yourself - this is tough, but you'll make it - as will your daughter. Remember all the prayers going up for her!
My heart aches for you Darlene - I know how sad I felt for my son missing his PIR - it was the Centenial 7-1-11. I think it was harder on me than on him - he wanted to write letters and file complaints on the treatment also - but somehow something changed in him - like I've said before - he has an empathy towards others and doesn't expect more from them than he does himself - which amazes me! When he signed up for the Navy - I prayed that they help him find the strength and abilities to do the tasks he would need to do. It is not a easy path to follow - but since he has chosen it - I want him to be able to dig as deep within himself as necessary to meet any challenge he faces. His life and his shipmates will depend on that. Your daughter will rise to this - your words of encouragement will help her make it through this.
Prayers to all working towards becoming a Navy Sailor!
Thanks everyone for your prayers. I am trusting in God that things will work out.
Darlene- I can understand where your daughter is coming from because of the things my daughter says. It is frustrating as a mom to hear it about it. I am waiting time but would some day see how I can make some changes to the removal of the wisdom. Or at least make someone aware of what could go wrong.
Darlene, I know you will be relieved when she is on her way to A school. The lack of communication is the killer, but it will get better.
tsk4, praying for your daughter and you as well, doesn't seem like the right hand knows what the left hand is doing in her case.
