My son called as well. It was so wonderful to hear his old voice again. He seems mentally ok, is staying very busy. He said he wrote a letter, but forgot where he put it. He did tell his grandmother that for a while there he just did not feel like writing. He did get all the letters and would love more. He explained what was the hold up in his testing and how they are working with him. He is hoping to pass them this week. I am praying for him and all the FIT division that they all can pass this week and go to BS together. I told my son to take his mind off of the worry of it while testing to sing or humm a song in your head. He immediately pops up with the song from Frozen Let It Go. We used to sing that song to each other all the time, especially when we were having a hard day. I also sent him the lyrics to Michael W. Smiths song This Is Your Time. That song has a lot good advice and inspiration in it. I think they call singing or humming when your are being tested the Mary Poppins or Maria from the Sound of Music theory. If you humm or sing something happy or you like your mind goes off of what you do not like. Not something you would do in an academic test, but I think in this situation it hopefully will work. I will pray for your daughters Claudia and Nukewife and for all of the srs in FIT. Have a good night.
Can any of the veteran moms/family that have been involved with FIT give me some insight to the mail sytem there? My son has been there 13 days and still no letters or word. We are getting a little concerned that something is a miss. I would appreciate any help. If we had a general timeline has to how long the transition is before they can start sending mail or it going out that would be helpful. Thank you
Claudia,
Your daughter is ok. She more than likely has been moved to the FIT division. Write to her daily use her old address, but add (in FIT div ) at end of ship div line until you hear from her. Keep praying for her be positive and uplifting in your cards and letters. She and you will make it through this little detour. From what I understand, she needs to pass whatever portion of her PFA she did not pass (you will get a status change call) then she can take her Battlestations ( I am a sailor call) then she will move on to her "A" school. I put her in our thoughts and prayers. The admins for this group are very helpful and can answer any more of your questions. Welcome to the group.
Hey Claudia, Welcome!
I have a recruit also that didn't pass her PFA on Monday. I got the same short call. Her PIR was also today. What division was your daughter in?
She'll call you when she does pass her PFA meaning she has a change in status or in two weeks, which ever comes first. The test M-W-F. So expect a call on any of those days if she passes.
Send her mail! Encourage her to keep going because they tend to get discouraged with not being able to graduate with their div.
I got a call from my recruit today. She has not yet passed and has 8 more tries. She sounded so upset with herself. I just reassured her that she can do this and that we're all still really proud of everything she has accomplished so far.
Stay strong. Waiting is the hardest part.
