Welcome Georgiagurl43(Jay's Mom Alisa)! Have lots of fun with your son and stalk the Navy Moms website so you knkow what to expect.  It's quite an emotional roller coaster ride while he's gone, but just know that it's not as bad for him as what you probably have pictured in your mind. It's amazing how your emotions take over as soon as they leave though.  We're all here for you though.

Welcome Georgiagurl43! Enjoy the time you have with him now, it flies by and you will miss him terribly when he goes to BC. Do lots of fun stuff, enjoy just hanging, talk, talk talk! That was the hardest for me was missing talking to my boy when he went. Enjoy !

Zman Mom - You may not be able to see him on Sunday in Pensacola.  I think they have to be in Phase 2 in order to leave base.  They are restricted to base in Phase 1.  There might be some way to get his things to him, but someone else with more experience will have to tell you what to do.  You might have to mail his stuff to him.

The day of PIR we had until 6:00 p.m. to visit because he had watch duty at the barracks that night.  He went to the airport in the middle of the night and didn't fly out until later in the day on Saturday.  You can visit him at the airport in Chicago before you go home.  We couldn't stay because we had to drive home (long drive).  He flew through Atlanta (no time for visit) and then to Pensacola.  He arrived there late afternoon/evening, but didn't call us until the next day  (Sunday).  You will be able to talk to him more once he is in Pensacola.  Not like BC.

Our SR'S PIR date is 9/11. We are from GA. He is also heading to Pensacola for A school.
How much time did you have with your son at PIR?
What time did he fly out? Have seen so many different things about leaving early or sometimes not until Sunday.

Hi ladies!  My son is in Pensacola for A-School (IT).  He loves the Navy life so far.  He graduated BC on June 12th.  We will be going to see him soon.  He told me he was the only one from Georgia in his division, so they nicknamed him "Georgia".

I have a son currently in BC and was wondering if anyone had their son/daughter ship out with him (June 10th from Montgomery) I didn't get a chance to see him get sworn in and thought to ask if some one had been there and maybe took group pictures. Thank you
