Ok Moms If you are a praying person it is time for us to join in together to pray for Japan and all those that are on the island. The Nuclear plants cooling system is failing. We have sent coolant but it is not working. If this goes it will make a serious situation a whole lot worse.

My husband is prior service Army and my son had always talked about going into the military and I would politely talk him out of it. Ha, ha..  After one year of college he just called me up and TOLD me he was going in the Air Force at first but he's color blind so chose the Navy.  Well, he was 19 so there was nothing I could do.  I'm really proud of him though and he is loving it but still gets a little homesick.

Coming from a Army family was shocking news to me when my son decided to go the Navy. My grandfather (Army WWII), father, uncles and brothers (Army). When he said Navy oh wow! He want to do something different. My middle son is enlisted in the Air Force more shocking news..I am a very proud mom it was there own decision...
I loves to travel where they are station. God is watching over Japan..

Thank you Vickimed!!! Great information.

I am so very proud of my son. His father and grandfather were in the Army, he has an uncle that was Coast Guard and another Ubcle in the Navy.My stepdad was in the Airforce and we have several friends who were in the marines. So the military is all around us. He is so excited about serving!

I am also praying for the people of Japan! So sad!

Welcome Lisa! Congratulations on your Recruits decision to join the Navy. While my Sailor was in BC my heart would break because I missed seeing him so much but I knew in my head that it was a great thing for him. I have seen him grow and mature in to the grown man that I always knew he would be. June will be here before you know it and those 8weeks of BC seem to go by so slow..But you will be amazed when you see him again at GL. N4Ms is a great place for you to be. Once he has a PIR date and a Division there will be a site that you can go to because you all have this bond to get your recruit through. You will share info when one gets a phone call or a letter. And you will hold each others hand as those recruits go through Battle Stations 21. They're sites for your recruits rate (job).. Those are very helpful especially after he graduates BC. Then we have our Ga. Moms the most special of all. We meet for coffee and do lunch. Try to meet once a quarter for a meet and greet. We share our stories and form a sisterhood. Some of our Moms are having the most precious grandbabies and you are able to share in their joy.                                            My prayers are going out to the people of Japan. This is such a horrible thing to happen. I know in the following days a head our Navy will step up and be doing a humanitarian mission. God be with them all. The Japanese people as they mourn and put there country back together and our Navy as they try to bring some relief and medical care to this country.

Thanks Pam! I am so proud of my son and honestly, not hearing from him will not be that hard, I know his sister will be watching over him. After losing Shawna to cancer, everything else in my life has been a breeze.

Sounds like your younger son needs to thank his guardian angel!! WOW! He is lucky!

Thank you for all the info...talk with you really soon!

Hello Ladies, I'm sure by now you have all heard about the major earthquake in Japan. I've just heard that the RR, which my son is on, was redirected to Japan to help out. My daughter-in-law is at NAS Whidbey Island north of Seattle and she said they only have an advisory, but further down the coast will be hit. My thoughts and prayers to all our sailors aboard the ships, in that area, to the other GA families who have loved ones in stationed in Japan, Guam and Hawaii. Also for others all along the coastal areas that my be impacted by the resulting tsunamis.  God bless them all.

Oh lisa - my heart just skipped a beat.  I'm so sorry.  I lost my Mom to cancer several years back at the age of 60 and I like to think that she is my kids' guardian angel now.  My younger son has had two brushes with life changing events (car accident and a diseased tree nearly falling on him) and I know she was there watching over him.  Your son is going to be fine.  I'm not going to lie though because bootcamp is hard on everyone.  The no contact was absolutely awful!  That's why it's important to join the bootcamp mom's group - and eventually you'll have a group to lean on that is in the same "division" as your son.  It's all a growing process for you and your son..
