For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OK i'm so happy right now! My Boyfriend Brian made it to Groton already! i was shocked when all of a sudden i have a message from him on my facebook! He bought a brand new laptop as soon as he got there so he messaged me as soon as he could! This week has been amazing!

C-wifey, my grandfather was a merchant marine too! And my other grandfather was a marine in WWI, purple heart, had his leg machine gunned off. Thanks for the kind words. I don't fit in with a lot of the moms, I'm a Navy aunt and my nephew is in nuke school. So I figure that since I am at the other end of the journey you ladies are taking maybe I can help. My friends are all half my age in RL, so I feel relaxed here.

Jennifer, you aren't saying "good-bye", you're saying "see you later." The mindset of being apart is tough, but you;ll get the hang of it. Eight weeks only feels like an eternity!
Marci, a yeoman on a sub is a YNSS rather than a "regular" yeoman who is on surface ships or one who serves the aviation community. The A school is the same, then the specialized training kicks in. And yes, they are sailors first, who can save their ship or boat if anything happens.

I cried my butt off on the drive home after dropping him off at the hotel :( I didn't think I could handle him bein away for so long since we always seen eachother every single day. The first couple of weeks will go by kinda slow but after that it goes by pretty fast and soon as u know it you will be preparing to go to his PIR :) its really a life changing experience.... I'm so amazed at how much he's matured just by bein there I'm very proud of him and all our sailors who made this sacrifice to improve their lives and serve their country honorably and proudly!

One week until my BF leave for BC...Things have happened so fast...Not even a month ago he did MEPS and soon he will be gone...We have been doing our bet to get things in order for when he leaves but we haven't had much time..Things have been very stressful for the both of us...I must say this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do...We're moving out of our apartment this week and into his moms house...I'll be staying there while he's away at BC...I have taken all of next week off work to spend his last few days here together then have a couple days to pull myself together after he leaves..
My heart is aching and my stomach is in knots...I keep questioning how much strength I have in me...If I don't think about it then I am okay but unfortunately thats not how I am...I over think things way too much...I'm doing my best not cry but its hard...I'm down to just tearing up...The day he leaves im going to try not cry with all I have in me but once I get in that car I know its going to let loose...
So ladies...How do you say goodbye to the man you love???
I have thought about chaining him up and not letting him go but I figure he would just drive me crazy until I wanted to get rid of him hahaha j/k

Yay that is all good news! I have his phone, I am planning on sending it to him as soon as he can give me his new address. Yeah, over PIR weekend he was telling me he wants me to visit over summer. It's been difficult not being able to talk to him or see him every day! I'm so happy nasic is over though. One thing out of the way! I can't wait to see where he gets stationed and everything! Well I guess it's Miss, here I come!

so... i got my "i'm a sailor " call tonight! He called me even before his parents! I got to talk to him for almost an hour. Now all i need is the week to fly by so I can see him on friday! GL here i come!!! :)
