Yay! A connection......I love it. I'm sure they do know each other. My son says it's a fairly small group. I wish there was a safe way to share names so we could see if they knew each other. Is he liking school? Are you by chance able to go to the graduation? I won't be able to as we live on the west coast and airfare is so expensive
So glad to connect with you!
Thanks for getting back to me!

Has your sailor started school yet? After 4 weeks of ATT and another week of indoc mine is finally in! Week two and loving it! I wonder if ours in together?
Hi There,
I recently went through the PIR at Great Lakes. My son is awaiting A School. He told me after docs that he would be starting on 23rd of Aug. So he's waiting a few more days.
Hi there, new to group, but have another sailor who is AD. Daughter is graduating A school this week. Stationed San Diego(where we live) no hard copies on orders, yet.Cannot wait to see her! It's been 5 months
jlpmom3, there are different kinds of GM's. Mine does small arms, but there are GM's that deal with missiles, etc. Check out the discussion forum for the discussion of what a GM can do.
Thanks Ruth.....10 years in the Navy as a GM is a good sign to me that this is a good job! :)
My son has been in the Navy for 10 years and a GM. He was on a carrier for the first deployment, but wasn't crazy about carrier life. He's been land based ever since, going to A-stan twice. He's in the States now, but we never know when he'll be sent in support of some special sailors.
That's a good question! He was told he was on hold for a month but on friday after finishing in doc he got a paper that he was told would tell him his start date and it said "unavailable" on it. I hope he's not waiting months and months. I have no idea how one would go about finding out when school starts.
Hi GM moms! My son just PIRed on 6/20/14 on hold for GM A school for a month. We are all excited for him. How are all your gunner's mates liking their job? What places have they gone?
