I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Thank you I just want to make sure that they didn't get more than the weekend typically. I was guessing with it right across the road that's what he would get.

Annette,  My son had to transfer to the A school side after graduation which took a few hours.  I think we met him at about 3pm on the Friday.  He got the rest of Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  We picked him up pretty early each day, Saturday he called us at 6:30m to pick him up, ha!! ha!! and dropped him off at about 9 to 9.30pm each night. Sometimes I believe they may have duty one of the days but we were lucky.

is there like an average time that GM's get leave for between BC and A school?  I am trying to make plans and don't want to cut myself short if I don't have to.

Congrats ladies on your sons, and coming in to the fold...GM is a great rate, and one they will love! Encourage your sons to doing well in A school, definately helps with their dream sheets...top of the class then down gets more options of where they go from GL. Good Luck and fair seas to your sons....

Welcome dawnl - my son graduates from GM A school on Friday.  He is really enjoying the school - which is great as he never really enjoyed studying before!!! Pics I have of him show him paying great attention, being serious and yet look as though he is enjoying it, ha!! ha!!  Think it has something to do with learning the workings of the weapons. Does your son have a date for bootcamp yet???
