GaryT: Any experience with paying your own way to a temporary training school, then being reimbursed...see my comment below regarding Tyler please...Tyler says he has to pay his own way, then wait for reimbursement or use government credit card....do you know what government credit card entails?

Katieliz: It''s some specialized training that is required for some GMs on deployable battalions. Tyler is attached to a Seabee Unit....His superior, GM1, is also going for this training. His recruiter, GM1, also had this training last year when he was attached to a Seal team. His workmates, also GMs, told him there usually is a reimbursement, but it would come appx 2-4 months later. One GM said he was never reimbursed for these expenses.

My son's GM training has been delayed, not sure what all the reasons are but my guess is that it'll start 11/1 once he's done with "ATT". Not sure what that is either, all these new acronyms to learn...

Tyler's headed to Crane, IL for small arms school in about a week...I know school is about 2 weeks long...anyone have any info on cheap place to stay or info on trip. He says he has to pay for gas, hotel and food himself.

Sunny, thank you so much for the link! I had looked on the Navy web site, but hadn't found anything. This really helps; sounds like what she told me, though she boiled it down to something along the lines of "we deploy with the Marines and we tell them where to park." hehehe
