I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Savannah was doing the human flag thing, too, says she is nice and pink (didin't use sun screen), but has a killer watch tan.

I bet they were picking them together. She joked that there was going to be a "secret op" to go buy some weed killer! So he just started GM school? Taryn was pretty sure she would start this week and now she hasn't. I don't think she has been away from home long enough to really appreciate coming home for a visit, so maybe there is a reason for the delay:) I really think the Navy in general has been really good for her. She has really blossomed. .

My daughter is still complaining about the hold time. She finished ATT school last Monday. Now she is learning to make a human flag. Before ATT school, she did a lot of weeding, etc. She just wants to get going on her chosen career. No leave until they are done with school or know for sure when they will start. It kind of leaves them in limbo. I'm glad I read all the good info here before she finished boot camp. Of course she thought I was crazy when I told her it may be a year before she was done with school. I hope she gets to start soon.

Hello, all, my daughter just finished boot camp, PIR was May 21, and is now on hold waiting to get to A school for GM. Any suggestions, explanations, etc. of what they are going through at this stage would be helpful, since I am really new to this. She was told the wait for A school could be up to a year. Does that sound right?

I love reading the stories and up dates on here. It is more information than I get from my daughter:) She graduated boot camp on February 2nd and she is now in AT school? She said she is learning things that have "nothing" to do with being a GM, but that is what she said about college too. No date yet on when she starts her official school. I know for awhile she was picking dandelions every day to give them something to do before school started. She is having the time of her life and that is exciting for me. When I texted her this morning, they were at a hotel and headed to 6 Flags for the day. She would have been sitting here watching TV all day if she hadn't joined. Life is good for my sailor daughter:) and her Mom!

Tyler is en route to the desert for a few months. It's been great to have him so close to home for the last 3 months. Can't wait for him to get back.
