I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Tyler thought it had a lot of Algebra, calculus and Trig in it. Would you say it refers to a lot of advanced math?

Hi Joanie, ATT is all the technical stuff. Electronics and electrical systems, how to read schematics ,fluids, hydraulics, torpedoes and any thing else that doesn't just point and shoot.

The ATT class for gunners mate; exactly what kind of course is it, i.e., sciences, maths, etc. and what do they study?

Tyler classed up to ATT starting on Thursday.

Tyler is just about to phase up to wearing civilian clothes. He called home last night with an order to be shipped. Will finish SCC on Tuesday. Then I'm sure he'll be on hold waiting for ATT to class up. He's doing great and adjusting to life in GL really well.

Judy, my son is a GM at GL, but he's one of the instructors on the recruit side at the simulation range.

This is not a wisdom tooth. Just a molar that has grown in sideways. Actually it has come in since his braces were removed about 2 yrs ago. he said they told him he would be dropped from his class. They told him during bootcamp that this tooth should come out, but they never called him back to dentist. I guess since SCC is only 12 day course, 2 days makes a difference. I'm sure Tyler will do fine, although he's never had a tooth pulled while he was awake. Do they allow them softer foods during the two days and plenty of liquids to drink? I know his ship doesn't allow food or drink onboard. I wonder how he'll be able to get enough liquids?

Well, a slight set back for Tyler. He has to have a tooth pulled on Thursday and will be SIQ 2 days. He will be dropped from his SCC class and will have to wait for another class to start. Keep him in your prayers.

My son graduated from boot camp in November. He will leave Great Lakes Sept 10. He is very happy to be on his way.

Kori - what type of duty does he do as a gunners mate at Pearl Harbor?
