I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Theresa, sorry this is a late post, but wanted to clarify that I have 2 GM's, that both had gone on to C-school, and neither of them have been sent directly to Iraq, nor ground duty. Course, who knows what the future holds for any of them...I do know that not all rates have additional schooling, and with GM's, it is an honor to progress to C-school. Hope this helps some...

Hi everyone....THERESA.....Here you are on my other site...I have missed talking with you on the phone...Maybe we can connect this weekend.
Barb....Knowing that your son will be stationed in Hawaii is going to make your visit to San Diego even sweeter, isn't it?
Connie~~have you had a chance to visit your daughter in San Diego yet? It is a beautiful city.

Hi Joyce, great picture! I almost thought the sailor closest to the front was my grandson at first. Taking a better look, it isn't him tho. My grandson has a newly broken nose, also.

Barb - I have always had good luck with Enterprise Rental Car company out here in California. It also might be possible that your son could check at the base there to see if anyone knows of discounts to families of servicemen. I would at least mention this to all the rental car companies you talk to. You can do a lot of this online. If you are going to go to LaJolla, you would need a car I think. And, a lot of it depends on which hotel you are going to stay at and it's location to the other sits you want to see. One of the moms on another forum got a good deal with Alamo in GL. If I hear of any deals out here, I'll surely let you know.

Hi Barb....good for you! You will enjoy San Diego so much. Michael put San Diego as #1 on his "dream list" for when he completes A school. Anything I can do to help in the meantime, please let me know. Have a special Mothers Day!!

It is my son who is the instructor. He's in small arms and works in the Missouri at GL.

Beth, it was (I think) Ruth Gun's Mom who mentioned her son was an instructor. Give it a try....Vee

My son had his torpedo test today. Is that like the first biggie. I get very little information, lol.
