I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

I didn't know the scores followed you. M did well but he said he could have done better but was being rushed along. Hopefully they can slow down a little during A school and really learn the information.

Joyce, I'll bug him about it. He put in for leave in May today. He wants to go visit G'ma in Tucson, so you're gonna get to meet him, I'm sure. I'll bug him about that, too!

Theresa, I didn't realize they had ATT at night. My son had it during the day. I guess they want to make max use of the computers.

A question for Kori Brady and Patty....when did your sons graduate from boot camp? I'm trying to get some idea on when my grandson will start ATT. Thanks in advance for getting back to me...and have a great evening!

Just got off the phone with my sailor, the soon to be instructor (April 7), at Great Lakes. He said that there's an epidemic of bronchitis going around. He said the buildings are fine because they're inpected everytime someone moves in and out, plus he discounted the mold theory, too. He did have a theory about being sick that makes sense--he said the weapons aren't sanitized. He said with thousands of sailors going through in a year, they're bound to be exposed to lots of germs on the weapons. He said he knows the weapons are the same ones he trained on five years ago. I'm inviting him to join Navy for Moms or at least come visit.

Ladies, my son and three sailors came hom a few weekends ago. My husband and i both commented on how they all had this dead raspy cough. They all live on the Farragut. I think it is them still adjusting to living in such close quarters. Kinda like a teacher teaching the first year, you get everything the kids breath at you. My son finished ATT early this week. He went over to the A school and they had him fill out his dream sheet and leave. Said he isn't sure when he will actually start classes. When he said he filled out his dream sheet it hit me like a ton of bricks. You mean he won't be walking in the door at 4:00 from school. You know how it is, every once in a while it just hits you. He really is gone. Makes me sad. I love and miss that young man. Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Good Morning Kori, the mold thing is nothing but a bad rumor that has been going around for a long time. I asked Will about it on Ask the SDC and that is what he told me. I too had concerns because my son also was in the Franklin. So.... no worries about that. Have a good day, Bill

Hi Kori Brady...The ship Michael was on between the Enterprise and the Porter was the Franklin and I have heard that is the one with the black mold problem. However, one of the SDC's on another group states that is not true....I talked with Michael last night by phone and he is still fighting whatever it is that won't let go of him. It sounds upper respiratory to me to listen to him. Also, like Beth's son, James, Michael is a California boy.
