I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Oh Happy Day Susan, Glad he will be out before the weekend.

Ladies, I know the Enterprise has one big tv downstairs. Surely the super bowl will be on. Last weekend Matt wanted to watch the NHL all star game but they had basketball on. He went someone else hoping to watch it but by the time he got there the cable was out. Some of the ships actually have free cable in each room.

My son was off base last weekend with a friends. Went to a movie and dinner. The good that that few hours off base did for him was amazing. Punishing all for a few is normally not that effective I have found.

No Robyn it is for this upcoming weekend. It is the USS Enterprise.

OK, my son texted me to tell me he is on restriction this weekend. When I wrote back and asked why he said the entire ship is on restrictions. Which means they can't leave base and can't wear civies for the entire weekend because of people getting drunk and doing stupid stuff. I am sorry I for one don't think that is a productive type of punishment.

My son is in the Enterprise as well. And is as impressed as your sons sound. NOT He had been told he would move as soon as he got back from Christmas but he is still there. Finished SCC the day he got back from leave. Has been on hold since. Was told it will be about a month before he begins ATT. Not a happy camper.

Hi Susie & Ellen, My son says the Enterprise is like a dumpster. He is now in the Porter and says it is the best one on base. Hopefully your sons will move their soon!! They can have food! Josh moved in when started ATT school and has just started GM school a couple of weeks ago. ATT musters during the day, so they should move once out of SCC.

Hi Hobbit's Mom, My son too in GM school. He started it 2 1/2 weeks ago.
C School depends on what their orders say. So, he won't know right now. My son hoping no C school as he just wants to get on with it already!!! Sounds like your son is just behind mine. Is he on the Porter right now. Josh has said that is the best building to live in in GL. Just wondering if our 2 know each other.

Try reading the GM school schedule in the discussions. That might help.

My son is in Norfolk waiting to transfer to Great Lakes by the beginning of Feb. His file from the ship has still not appeared--he started asking for it months ago, supposedly they mailed it almost two weeks ago. Not sure what will happen--he's supposed to not leave Norfolk until "they" have his file, but he has orders to show up at GL. I think it's the classic "snafu."
