I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Laura731, we haven't heard anything either. It's killing me not knowing how he is doing!! I have my phone on me 24/7 just in case he calls. I've sent numerous letters as well. But I went into this not expecting to hear from him at all, makes it a little bit easier. But I'm glad to know you haven't heard either. No news is good news and I'm sure they are just keeping them too busy to get in touch.

I remember those first 3 weeks were the hardest.  Keep sending those letters and pics!

NavyGirlfriend21 my son is going to the same school. We have seen 115 / 27 weeks. Praying they get in the class mid June so they will graduate A school mid Dec. We want to go to that small ceremony also. I also heard no cars can be stored on property and off base is not a safe area.

I wish I had answers, but this is something only your sailor can find out.

Thank you Ruth. I appreciate you looking into that for me. However, some of his paper work says A school is 7 months long and other sources say A school is 4 months long. Do you know which is correct??

He said he can use the shuttle, a cab, or walk.

The information I got was no car.  Cars only allowed if the school is longer than 6 months. Your boyfriend needs to keep checking with the chain of command.

NavyGirlfriend, my son was an instructor at BC, so I've sent him a message.  I'll let you know what he says.  Of course, things change, and he's been back in Norfolk for a couple years.
