OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi ladies! My boyfriend arrived at BC on the 25th. He is graduating on the 23rd of May. He will be staying at GL for A school. I'm wondering if any of you know if they are allowed to have a vehicle on base while in school. Originally he was told he could but then he was told he won't know until after PIR. I was going to drive his truck up to save money on a plane ticket and so he could have it. Anyone know the deal?

Bonnie, my son started in January and will finish the second week of May. From what he said, they have shortened GM A School, and these are the last classes of GM's they will have? Not sure I understand, lol! So he will have been in A school for four months.
Looks like just shy of the 27 weeks. It has been so much better than BC!! I love being able to talk to him pretty much whenever I want, Skype is awesome, and the texting wonderful.

Hi Bonnie. My daughter graduated A school in Sept 2012 and started in April, so I think the 115 days may be pretty close. After the communication lag of BC, A school was heaven! Text and calls everyday!!! Just remind your sailor to keep his grades up and keep working out (they are on their own with that). Congratulations and welcome to the next ride on this rollercoaster!

How long is GM school? I read somewhere it is 27 weeks, but read somewhere else it is 115 calendar days (whatever that means). My son-in-law sailor just started a few weeks ago and thinks he will be done in May. None of this adds up. LOL! I just want an idea of how long it will be. Any of you moms have recent graduates?

I think my son is on hold waiting to start ATT. Right now he is shoveling snow!! Haha new experience for him since he is from Atlanta Georgia! As I am sure all of you saw this week we don't do well with snow or ice down here.

Hi Diana - those were my thoughts also. I have been lucky, my son has not been deployed yet. His ship just came out of the yards from updates and upgrades when went aboard so they are testing, etc. but has a possible deployment towards the end of this year.

I haven't been on here in a while - glad to see more people on! My son is on his 2nd deployment. I know the general area (I think) but haven't had communication from him in a while. Coming on here makes me feel a little more "connected".

My sailor just transferred to GL A school this past weekend. Is on a hold until Feb 9. He is in a room with a bunch of great guys. He is so happy there. Im sure part of that is because he is no longer in BC. It is so nice to get a call from him at night just to tell me what he has been up to. I am happy too. GO NAVY!

Wow... Been a while since I was on here last. A lot of activity now. Love it. I am the mom of a new GM 3 stationed in SD as well as the "adoptive" mom of 3 others. This has been an amazing ride for his father and I as he is an only child. We have been in the Navy since March 13, 2012. It has been trying at times but all in all a good experience for all.
