Congrats Proudmom -
This group is devoted to loved ones of the non-nucs on the boats, who all go to Sub school at Groton CT, and many have other schools there also before reporting to their first boat. You will find out plenty of useful stuff about Groton here, and get a bit of a feel for what training is like for the "coners", but very little will relate to your son, since nucs don't go to sub school, even if they are going to a sub. Since he's on a boat homeported in Groton, he will probably have some training at sub school facilities, but it won't be sub school per se. The Sub Moms group is very active, with a lot of great people on it - you'll want to check that out for sure.

Hi JP there is graduations for A school. When depends on how long your sons A school is. My son is an ET/COM his date has been changed 3 times. Just a heads up when your sailor give you a date make sure it doesn't change. Cause if you plan on coming to see it and have to buy airline tickets some airline will charge you for changing the date. It has happened to some of the Moms here already. Your sailor should have an idea how long his school is don't worry he will tell you in plenty of time I hope. I hope this was helpful. :)

Well the Super 8 is not far from the base. Just down the road not to far for the Navy Lodge also. Its 173 RT 12 , I-95 Exit 86 Groton. My son had some friends come see him at the base and they stayed there. He said it was pretty nice.

There is a Best Western pretty much next to Dunkin and a Super 8 a block south, Cheryl - bummer, not getting into the Lodge, Gloria; I spent four days there recently and was really impressed...

Well girls guess what. My loving son who said he had taking care of booking our room at the Navy Lodge just called and said Mom I forgot to tell you when I called to book it there was no rooms left. They were booked almost 3.5 weeks ago. If only I was able to go through the phone to ring his neck lol. But thank God he mention to us about Super 8 motel. So now we will be staying there instead. Just wanted to tell you girls. The Navy does make men out of them but at times that kid without the brains shows up to say I'm still here. lol.

Hey Sponge sorry about the airline tickets. Glad your still coming. I spoke to my son and told him to set it up for his Dad and me to stay at the Navy Lodge. We had stayed at the one in GL loved it close to the base and very comfortable. Any idea yet on which sub he will be on at Pearl?
