My son is home Yea!!!! He got home before me and surprise me he is now a Seaman Apprentice. We are so proud of him. We took him out to dinner (Chili's) while we were eating a nice couple came to our table and thank my son for his service and told him he's a great American. He order dessert for us. Which I thought was a nice thing. Then another couple also said thanks to my son. Their son is in the Naval Academy has another 2 years to go. It was a great feeling to see how there are people out there who appreciate what our sailors and all military are doing for our country. I hate to say this but I did get a little choke up. What a great day!!!!!!!!

Donna glad your watching the game and see our sailors. Usually the Yankees will have a big section where most of the sailors sit together in the upper deck. They will span the cameras and show them. The sailors will also see themself and go nuts. Its a beautiful thing to see. Enjoy the game and go Navy and Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not if you know where to go and like you said depends on who you go with. I'm a native New Yorker and never had any problems in the city. Besides there will be alot of police around since its a holiday weekend. I know the sailors go in groups and alot of them will try to catch a baseball game. In the passed if it is not a sellout military personal in uniform or ID get in free. Because the New York Yankees as well as all New Yorkers appreciate what the military has gone for us. New York is a great town we open up our arms to all Navy personal it is the culture capital of the United States. New York is a great place. Thats why they had to name it twice... New York, New York don't knock it until you try it.

Fleet week is here ( New York ) my son called and said the base has a bus going to the city on Saturday morning about 9am. The cost is about $45. I hope all the sailors who have the weekend off take advantage and come down. My boy will be coming tomorrow instead he just brought a car and can't wait to pick it up. May all have a great time at Fleet week.

Sue,
I'm pretty sure missile techs get their "A" school at Kings Bay (GA). I wouldn't be surprised if they also do it at the west coast Trident base at Bangor, WA either - but don't know for sure...
