Is anyone who lives in Guam on here? If so can you tell me how to dial to reach a land line phone in Guam? I have a number my son wanted me to try. Is it same as stateside dial 1- then the three digit area code then 7 digit number. ??

My son is there and has been there since Feb.... says it is beautiful but expensive for some things and others dirt cheap. ... says he is bored now because has hiked, swam, toured etc..... he hates the weather right now wet wet wet.... says 2 seasons.... wet and dry. There is major flooding going on right now. Told me a couple days ago it is nasty nasty.
Typhoon season is the worst according to him.
Package's have taken anywhere from 5 days to 3 months to get to him so don't send time sensitive stuff..... he is at the barrack and not on a ship and has a po but stilll takes that long.
Anyway best of luck to your sailors. :)

The weather is basically the same all year long although this last couple of weeks they have been having typhoon type weather. Lots and lots of wind and rain. My son says it's always hot and humid. He isn't used to the humidity since he came from Arizona with a very dry heat. Hope your son is adjusting and doing well :)

I just like dropping in on the group every couple days to see if anyone else is on the group. Being here makes me feel somewhat close to my son on days I'm missing him more than others. How us the weather in Guam this time of year. Does it stay the same

Shipping the box tomorrow. I packed it today. His boss has a PO box he wasn't going to let the guys send things to but my son hasn't been able to get me the address so I'm just going to do the address FRG gave us. I have it in the USPS priority mail box so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending it tomorrow.

Charlotte I appreciate the information. Any bits of information is always helpful. He sent a photo or two and it does look beautiful there.

I did a 3 yr stint with my husband on Guam. Always ship using USPS priority mail to the ship and if necessary pay for insurance for more expensive items. It provides shipping confirmation once it arrives on island (as long as it gets checked in properly by the ship) and usually takes about 7-14 days. Guam was awesome.

The shipping is terrible!! I have sent packages that have taken 2 months to get there and then a couple weeks ago I sent one and it only took 7 days, that's the quickest anything has got there. My sons address is his ship and I think that is part of the problem. I have asked him to get a PO box because I think things would get there faster but he hasn't yet. He has to move off base in a couple of months so maybe then things will get there quicker. Just make sure everything is addressed correctly and you've filled out the custom forms. We've shipped the sandbox also and was always amazed how fast things got there!! Sorry this isn't really helpful :(

I am getting ready to send my first package but a little concerned.  His wife sent one three weeks ago and it still hasn't gotten there.  He also has his box he sent himself way before they left that had his guitar in it and his other recreational items and it never got there yet either.  When they were in the sandbox, last year, I'd send a package and it would be there in a week.  It's kinda strange it's taking so much longer to get there.  

Does anyone have someone in the barracks that has a "old style corded phone" in their room?  He has one in his and he gave me the number to it.  He said we can call it and when he's in his room it will work.  He and I tested it and it didn't work.  He can't figure it out.  Wondered if anyone else knows about that?

I'm not sure we are able to say hiw long. But it Issas than a year. He is a Seabee so he's not on a ship. Yes barracks. He has a microwave and so I'm going to send some things like you suggested to help him out. Yes the peace I have us so different than last deployment. I like knowing he's safe then today we has the shooter right here in states and you go is anywhere really safe . But I know what you mean; he's safe.

Yay for a phone call!! You all will get it figured out! The time difference is always a challenge! How long is your son in Guam ktssong? You may have answered that already....i looked back but couldn't find it. It's so nice you get along so well with your dil! I hate to see young marrieds not living together. Hopefully the time will go fast.

Is your son on a sub or ship? "Stuff" on the island is expensive. Is he living in the barracks? Another thing you could send him is cans of spaghetti sauce and pasta noodles. My son makes spaghetti himself because its easy and cheap. Does he have a kitchen area? Or just a microwave?

I'm glad you feel better about him. He is in a safe place!
