For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Proud Navy Parent, I have not flown to Guam. My son has been in Guam for 1.5 years and has flown home 1 time. The flights are expensive ($1600-1800). He hasnt' found anytime of the year to be cheaper then a different time of year. He is stationed there for another 1.5 years and unless my finances change I will not get to visit him :(. What is your sons rate? Mine is IT and he is assigned to the Frank Cable

In about 3 weeks my son will be in Guam. Has anyone flown there? What is the best time of year to fly to Guam for a visit. Are there times of the year that are cheaper than others?

Kathleeng - My son loves Guam and he has been there for 3 months, he tells us he lives in paradise. He is very happy and loves his job, he is an EOD tech what does your son do?

Kathleeng - My son got the Guam phone and internet service and it works just fine. With the time difference, for us is 14 hours ahead of us here in Michigan so he calls when he gets up in the morning or evening so far it has worked just fine. He calls about once a week. Hope this helps.

My son seems just fine when we talk to him. He loves it there.

This is the most activity I have seen on this page since my son went to Guam. He has been there 15 months. He is IT. He purchased a car when he got there and you have to get the Guam cellphone service or it will cost you an arm and a leg. He likes it. He doesn't love it but he doesnt hate it. He is not a fan of humid, hot weather! He does enjoy scuba diving and spear fishing. Good luck to all your sailors!!

To JMTMom, the answer is yes. Otherwise it will cost an arm and a leg. That is what my son did.
