sggkw4 - My son is not on a sub but when he was deployed with his marine unit that he is attached to, the same address was used and they made sure they sent his mail to where he was deployed.  So, yes I'm sure the subs get their mail also but definitely find his ombudsman.

When we visited our son in July, we made our t-shirts!  We had so much fun with it and since we hadn't seen him in 18 months we did a great big 'ol iron on of his face on the front of our t-shirts.  So when we got to baggage claim in Honolulu that's all he seen was his crazy family with his face plastered on our fronts!  We also did the Navy Anchor and a Corpsman Up sign since that's his Rate and our "official" titles on the back, mom, dad, little sister, etc.  We picked everything up from Hobby Lobby and worked on it for several weeks before we left.  I'm sure he's still talking about it...

Hi Moms! Hope you are all well tonight. Does anyone know if there is FB page for the USS Houston. I can't find anything on the boat.

welcome SGG!  your sonwill love Oahu! his mail "should" follow him, but better yet, see if that ship has a website or facebook page that lists "ombudsman" contact info. Email them and intro yourself (son's name, rank, rate etc) Ask to be included in any deployment newsletters or emails, and ask about the proper address too. I realize it might be different for subs, (OPSEC) but the ombudsman is very active in my son's Aircrew Squadron on the east side of Oahu. Try to find a parent group of your son's ship either on this website or on facebook. Parents/spouses may have started one? Mail and communication is so different for subs when out at sea, other Sub parents will respond here I bet, and have more info for ya too :-)

My son was just assigned to the USS Olympia at Pearl Harbor.  This is his first assignment since graduating A school in Groton last month.

We have something to mail him and he gave us an address but he has left on deployment already.  He was told his mail would follow the sub.  Is this accurate?

Hey Ladies, just to let you know, if you can't find what you like or want when looking to purchase a military t-shirt on the "tee-spring" create your own t-shirt website, another site is CafePress.com. They have literally, thousands of military t-shirts to chose from, including infants, toddlers, & children's ( as well as other items) at very reasonable prices that include every military branch you can think of. Just put in a search of what you want & it will come up. Ex: Navy mom t-shirts, Marine child t-shirts, etc. Happy t-shirt hunting! You literally can spent hours looking through the selections, & then when you pick something, they will have anywhere from 9 to 27 variations of the shirt you pick, including color & style. They also have other military related items, including stickers, mugs, etc. They do not just do military only, but other careers as well.
