Mrs. Carolyn -

I wanted to let you know that we received a few boxes this last
Wednesday...and I have about 150 cases onboard.  People are anxious to
get them and have already "Laid claim" to some...but I won't give them
out until there is enough for everybody. LOL  I wanted to say thank you
for what we have already gotten - and once we get the rest, I intend to
take pictures and send them back to you.  It's a really nice surprise
all of the options. LOL

In the time that it took for my box to reach him, we are over 46,000 so I wrote back and told him that.  haha

I did get the box that had your letter in it – I am amazed that you are up to over 45000 cases.  Think of all the lives you have touched…it truly is a blessing.  Absolutely – when I get the remaining cases (I think we are up to 180 now…I got a small box today) – we will snap some photos and send them to you for you to use as needed.  I will keep you posted on when we receive more, hopefully soon – people are very very interested in picking out their patterns. LOL

The support we receive from back home along nice gestures such as this make this deployment all worth while. My name is ENS Mitchell Kxxxx aboard USS TRUXTUN DDG 103.  I heard we were shipped clean pillow cases for the crew’s use.  I am new to the ship, having been on board for exactly a week now.  This is my first time being out, as I have been an ensign for only about 2 months now.  Though I am thoroughly enjoying myself, I have had a hard time adjusting to my new environment and my new life.  I just wanted to thank you for the pillow cases on behalf of the sailors, as this helps make things a little more comfortable, especially as I work to acclimate myself to ship life.

Hey my new reserve Mom ☺ 

I am a Danish soldier serving for 9 months with the American troops here in Kandahar Afghanistan. I currently have two awesomeAmericans under my command, and they were so nice to give me one of the pillowcases they received from you, and that pillowcase had a note attached with our e-mail on, so I thought I would spend 5 minutes writing a THANK YOU letter for you. 

I think it is very nice of you to take the time and effort to send a little gift to your troops who is serving our country. I don’t know if you had me in mind as a Danish soldier when you were making these pillowcases, but you should know how much it means to know that someone is thinking of us who are serving so far away from our homes and loved ones. 

The two Americans I am serving with are in the top of their classes, and you should be proud of producing such nice and professional soldiers as these two. I have already had them under my command for 4, 5 months and am looking forward for the next 1, 5 month with them, and I am going to miss them when they are heading back to their homes in the states.

 Be advised that I will be sleeping with that nice Mickey Mouse pillowcase I got from you, for the rest of my tour down here.

Dear Mrs Lamberson, 

I have just been approached by Master Sergeant Jason Txxx about this wonderful initiative from you to offer support, prayers and love to the men and women who are serving at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.  As a serving officer in the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom, I am yet again reminded of how far your country goes to support the military forces of the United States of America, and those who serve alongside.  A reminder of a home comfort and knowing that we are in the thoughts of loved ones makes the pain of separation whilst we carry out our duty that little easier. 

Please accept my thanks for both those who serve alongside me and myself for your generous gifts to us. I do not refer just to the pillowcases but to the time, dedication and thought you and your fellow ladies have put into this.  I also hope that a small token of our appreciation reaches you in due course, I apologise for any delay but the postal system sometimes misfires!

pillowcases.  I received two pillowcases, one from Elena and one from
Ian.  They were made by Linda and Jean.  These have brought a touch of
home to my bed here at Kandahar, Afghanistan.

(Elena and Ian are 2 kids from school and they made the notes that I put in the pcs.  Jean is my former boss at CARE and she is now making pcs for HAE!  Plus her SIL is serving in this unit.)

To the 'Heads as Ease' Team,

 

I write you from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. I MUST say in my 24 years of service in the United States Air Force, I've seen more care packages (snacks, cards, magazines, candy, etc...) than I can count, from a lot of caring teams bringing us great morale from a far. BUT, nothing like your special pillow cases. It was AMAZING to have recieved your pillow cases. I took them out to my guys working on the airport and I had the chance to hand them out to my guys and gals!! I can speak for about 58 people under me, Although it is about 127 degrees today, you STILL brought smiles to EACH AND EVERY, one of their faces!!! For they all found a pillow case that they could make their very own, and some even took , more than one pillow case.

        My name is John and I'm an Air Force Sergeant deployed in South West
Asia. I just want to say thanks for the card and pillow cases you have
delivered to all of us. I got a second pillow case and received a card. Our
Airmen and Soldiers here are putting good use to the pillow case you
fabricated. I also see that your seven year old granddaughter contributed in
sending an advance Valentine's Day greeting. Although it's not February,
Valentine's Day was missed by most of us here. So please thank her for the
greeting and of course, we will not forget to brush our teeth. I will keep
this card you gave me as a part of my collection because it's a reminder
that the American people did not forget about us despite ongoing issues our
country currently faces. For that, I thank you, but regret that we can only
protect our country from foreign tyranny. Thanks and God
